Beauty experts said using conditioner isn't always a good idea

There are endless hair care products on the market, from shampoos and conditioners to hair oils and masks.

Using too many - or the wrong types - of products can do more damage than good, experts shared.

They highlighted conditioner and warned against putting this on your hair too often.

In fact, experts at luxury hair extension specialists Roxy Hair suggested "leaving the conditioner behind".

This is because it can cause to make hair look greasy or weigh it down, making a voluminous, healthy look more difficult to achieve.

The experts said: "Conditioners are hugely effective for hydrating your hair, but the product also comes with the risk of over-hydration.

"It has often been voiced that conditioners can result in oily-looking hair, which is why it’s becoming increasingly common for people to leave these products behind."

Applying conditioner after shampoo is a staple in many people's hair care routine and it might be beneficial for some hair types.

However, the expert suggested it could be worth swapping this for regular hydrating hair masks instead to inject some life back into dry locks.

Those who do want to stick with conditioner should make sure they are using the treatment correctly. This means avoiding putting it near the roots.

The hair experts continued: "If you do use conditioner in your hair care routine, it’s essential not to apply this product directly to your scalp.

"Otherwise, this can leave you with flat and damaged hair. For increased volume, it’s better to apply a small amount of conditioner to only the ends of your hair."

People often reach for heated styling tools to perfect their barnet, but this can make hair look "damaged and exceptionally dry".

The experts explained: "Using heat appliances regularly on your hair can result in a high amount of breakage, including split ends and a loss of natural moisture, making hair look damaged and exceptionally dry.

"Because of this, it’s incredibly beneficial to wear your hair naturally.

"Letting your hair air dry naturally occasionally is a fantastic way to let your hair breathe, reducing the risk of dandruff and damage. The less you use heated appliances, the healthier your hair will look."
