A men's hair expert shares the best foods for a healthy mane

In order to achieve thick, enviable hair, men need to ensure they are eating the right foods.

Speaking exclusively to GB News, an expert suggested reaching for meals that are packed full of protein to get the best results.

Protein is the building block for healthy hair, so not eating enough of this macronutrient can leave your locks lacklustre, founder of The Gents Place Ben Davis explained.

He said: "It starts with a few simple but effective changes to your routine.

"As someone who’s spent years focused on men’s grooming, I can tell you that healthy hair is about consistent care, the right products and good habits.

"Let’s talk about your diet - it’s more important than most men realise. Your hair is made of protein, so foods like eggs, lean meats, and fish are essential."

Other vitamins can also contribute to the thickness and shine of your hair, and the expert recommended foods high in biotin and omega-3s.

Ben continued: "Biotin-rich foods like almonds and sweet potatoes can also boost hair strength, while omega-3s from salmon or walnuts help keep your scalp healthy."

Finally, make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day as this will show up in how your hair grows.

The expert explained: "Don’t forget hydration. Drinking enough water keeps your hair and scalp from drying out, which can make a noticeable difference."

Hair transplant experts at Vera Clinic backed up the benefits of eating the right vitamins and macronutrients.

They said: "A healthy diet is one of the best ways to reduce hair loss. According to Healthline, foods rich in vitamins B and E, selenium, zinc, and protein are essential for strong, healthy hair.

"These include, but are not limited to, eggs, blackberries, lentils, and salmon. People can also take supplements to reduce hair loss, from collagen and omega-3."

Supplements can be a good way to get more of this into your diet, with vitamin tablets and protein powders readily available.
