All houseplants will have slightly different care requirements, although many principles can be applied to most plants.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, an expert explained what she does for healthy growth.
Founder and CEO of TN Nursery Tammy Sons explained that the position of your houseplants is important. Make sure they are positioned to get plenty of sunlight, without being burned by sunrays on a hot day.
She said: "I ensure my houseplants receive adequate indirect sunlight throughout the year with adjusted watering levels that decrease during winter and increase as temperatures rise."

GETTYKeeping the leaves free of dust is also something that is easily overlooked, but important if you want plants to thrive.
Tammy continued: "Cleaning their leaves on a regular basis keeps dust away and improves their ability to conduct photosynthesis."
Keeping your existing plants healthy is important, but what about new plants? The expert suggested organic fertilisers could be the way forward - but don't overdo it.
When new plants start to grow, check regularly for signs of rot or pests and target this as soon as possible.
Tammy added: "To promote healthy growth, I use organic fertiliser infrequently, so that the plants receive a gentle natural enhancement without damaging their root systems.
"To maintain healthy growth, I regularly monitor for pests and repot my plants when necessary. When I tend to each plant's specific requirements, they prosper continuously throughout the year."

"As spring brings increased light exposure, it is important to monitor their placement in case adjustments are needed.
"Make sure to also clean your plants' leaves with a damp cloth, as dust reduces the amount of light that reaches them."
