Noodles have been recalled due to undeclared allergens

Britons who have bought packs of Ramen noodles in stores across the UK should check for affected batches.

Packs contain sesame not mentioned on the label and consuming this can be potentially life-threatening for anyone with an allergy.

The product has been recalled and a notice has been shared which gives more details on the warning and what customers should do if they have bought the food.

Japan Food Express Ltd

It said: "We are recalling DAISHO Hakata Ramen Noodle Tonkotsu 188gram (imported by Japan Food Express Ltd) due to sesame allergen information being missing from the product label."

Packs with best before dates as far back as July 2022 until December 2024 have been recalled so anyone who has bought any of these should check their packs. Best before dates can be found at the bottom of the package.

The notice added: "If you have bought DAISHO Hakata Ramen Noodle Tonkotsu 188g (Imported by Japan Food Express Ltd) as detailed above, and you have an allergy to sesame, do not eat.

"Instead, check if you have bought the affected best date of DAISHO Hakata Ramen Noodle Tonkotsu 188g.

"Return the product(s) to the store for a full refund, with or without a receipt. For more information, contact us on Japan Food Express Ltd on 020 3909 1555 or info@japanfoodexpress.co.uk."

Consuming sesame with an allergy can have devastating consequences. Anaphylaxis.org stated: "More serious symptoms are often referred to as the ABC symptoms and can include:

"Airways - swelling in the throat, tongue or upper airways (tightening of the throat, hoarse voice, difficulty swallowing).

"Breathing - sudden onset wheezing, breathing difficulty, noisy breathing.

"Circulation - dizziness, feeling faint, sudden sleepiness, tiredness, confusion, pale clammy skin, loss of consciousness."


It added the risk can be fatal in cases: "In extreme cases there could be a dramatic fall in blood pressure. The person may become weak and floppy and may have a sense of something terrible happening.

"This may lead to collapse and loss of consciousness and, on rare occasions, can be fatal."

This comes as an urgent salmonella warning was shared for a cupboard staple sold in Tesco, Asda and more. The paste may contain salmonella meaning it is particularly dangerous for customers.

The Food Standards Agency added: "AB World Foods Ltd is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in stores where the product was sold.

"These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."
