'I can't wait to try!' M&S shoppers discover 'divine' new chocolate spread in stores

The item was highlighted in an Instagram post by the retailer, where it was described as the "ultimate treat".

The post read: "New in the M&S Foodhall - chocolate spread but make it high protein. We’ve cracked the ultimate high-protein chocolatey treat.

"Our new High Protein Chocolate Hazelnut Spread is not only packed with crunchy hazelnut pieces, making it mouth-wateringly moreish, it’s loaded with 5g of protein per serving as well.

"Spread onto seeded bread, bake into high protein muffins or devour on your toasted High Protein bagels with your favourite berries.

"Or you know, just dive straight in with a spoon… no one’s judging. Find it in your local M&S Foodhall or on @ocadouk now."

The product has a whopping 30g of protein per 100g, compared to 6.2g per 100g in the standard M&S Hazelnut Chocolate Spread.

Hungry Britons looking for a sweet treat commented on the post and seemed to be excited by the product.

One shopper wrote, "I cannot wait to try" while another expressed relief, penning, "omg, at last".

A third chocolate fan commented that they "need this immediately", while others said it looks "delicious", "divine" and "perfect".

Many more M&S customers simply "liked" the post or commented with positive emojis, such as "love hearts" or "clapping hands".

Supermarkets will often launch new products in line with shopper demand and Marks & Spencer's are frequently a hit with customers.

M&S shoppers recently spotted some Easter-themed chocolate treats which were described as "game-changing".

The Eggstra Gooey Coffee Eggs (160g) combines "silky milk chocolate and rich dark chocolate shells with a creamy, indulgent coffee and vanilla filling".

One enthusiastic customer had particularly high hopes and said they "bet they're better than Creme Eggs".
