Lidl has recalled chicken that could pose a safety risk

Food recalls are not issued often but they should be taken seriously.

The supermarket giant Lidl has a warning for customers who have recently been in stores.

Farmer shares fears over fruit and veg farming in the UK

The product could contain pieces of plastic which would make it dangerous to consume.

A Lidl statement said: "Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned product due to the potential presence of hard blue plastic.

"If you have bought the above product we advise you not to eat it.

"Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be given."

The product can be recalled to any store and a receipt is not necessary.

The recall is specific to products sold in stores in England and Wales only.

Lidl added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.

This comes as Tesco urgently recalled cereal and frozen foods.

Shoppers were warned not to eat any of the affected items.

Asda shared a warning for chicken over a potentially deadly ingredient.

Anyone who has bought the product and has an allergy to wheat or gluten should not eat it.
