The new Audi scheme can be used in conjunction with the Ulez scrappage scheme

One of the largest car brands in the world is launching a scheme to allow drivers to potentially save £11,000 when buying a new electric car.

The new “Make the Switch” campaign is Audi’s latest attempt to get motorists to ditch their older petrol and diesel cars and buy an EV.

For Audi customers in London, buyers could save as much as 16.5 per cent on a new Audi electric car in conjunction with the Ultra Low Emission Zone scrappage scheme.

Drivers are able to save between £6,250 and £11,000 depending on the model and is available to all motorists across the UK.

Britons who opt for the popular Audi Q4 e-tron can receive a total support package of £8,250 inclusive of the £2,000 Ulez scrappage scheme.

Further savings are available for the Q8 e-tron worth £11,750 and £13,000 off an Audi e-tron GT.

Andrew Doyle, director of Audi UK, praised the new scheme, saying it would help the brand and drivers adapt to the electric switch.

He said: “Core to Audi’s path of becoming the leading provider of sustainable premium mobility is the development and production of zero-emission, fully electric vehicles – and from 2026 every new Audi launched will be all-electric.

“Customer appetite and interest in our BEV line-up are growing rapidly, sales are up 78 per cent year-on-year, and our ‘Make the Switch’ campaign will help accelerate that shift by lowering the barriers to entry for many.”

When making use of the Make the Switch programme, drivers will also receive a free Ohme wall box charger with standard installation.

The 7kW domestic recharging unit enables drivers to quickly and conveniently charge their vehicles through the Ohme app.

Motorists who already have a suitable home charger can redeem an offer of £500 charging credit on the Audi charge card.

Audi e-tron service plans are also being reduced to £499 during the Make the Switch campaign to support the cost of ownership.

Customers who choose to insure through Audi Car Insurance will also receive £100 towards their annual policy.

The campaign comes in response to the rollout of the controversial Ulez expansion, which now covers almost the entire area inside the M25 orbital road.

Motorists will escape the £12.50 daily fee if their petrol car is Euro 4 or newer (generally built after 2005) or Euro 6 with their diesel car (generally built after 2015).
