An expert told slimmers to find a low-carb alternative to their go-to meals

Small habits can make a big difference when it comes to weight loss. According to an expert, there are some practices you can adopt to see results.

Dr Becky Gillaspy, a chiropractic doctor who has also earned her certification as a health and wellness coach, offered slimmers a hack they can do in "under a minute" to "boost weight loss". The expert advised finding one low-carb recipe to try.

Dr Becky said: "Low-carb meals keep your blood sugar and insulin levels low for hours, allowing your body to release fat and quiet cravings.

"So having low-carb recipes on hand makes your weight loss journey easier, more enjoyable and more effective. And fortunately, they are quick and easy to find."

Eating more low-carb meals doesn't mean forgoing your favourite foods though. The expert advised slimmers "not to fall into the trap of getting too fancy".

All you need to do is find low-carb versions of your go-to meals. Dr Becky advised: "Do you like chilli? Search for a low-carb chilli recipe.

"If you like spaghetti and meatballs, look for low-carb spaghetti and meatballs. It's yummy when made with spaghetti squash and at least worth a try."

Finding a new recipe can take as little as a minute. The expert advised slimmers to seek out one low-carb recipe per day for a week, leaving them with seven new weight-loss-friendly meals to try.

According to Dr Becky, another way to "boost" weight loss in under a minute is by changing the way you look at the scales.

The weight loss guru advised slimmers to use a Post-it note as a tool to "move them towards their goal".

Those on a weight loss journey were advised to write down their ideal weight on a Post-it and place this over the weight display on their bathroom scales to "flip the emotional energy of the scale".

Dr Becky said: "Now when you step on the scale you will see your ideal weight. Celebrate that. Let a good feeling build up inside of you before stepping off the scale."

If you want to peek under the note to see your true weight, that is okay, but the expert advised against checking every time.

The Post-it hack is great for removing the nervous energy some slimmers experience when weighing themselves, which can sometimes "sabotage" their weight loss efforts.

Dr Becky said: "The ideal weight card is absolutely a 'fake it until you make it' strategy, but it teaches you that your outlook matters."
