The small lifestyle adjustment could speed up results on the scales

Shedding unwanted pounds can feel like an insurmountable challenge, but it doesn't always require a complete lifestyle overhaul.

Small adjustments to daily routines, particularly in the morning, can make a significant difference, according to experts.

Founder at Compass Nutrition, Adiana Castro, told GB News that even minor habits like drinking more water can make a difference.

She recommended that people "hydrate, hydrate, hydrate first thing in the morning" to start the day on a healthy note.

Sipping on a cup of herbal tea first thing in the morning is equally beneficial, the expert explained.

Adjustments of this nature are often easier to implement and sustain than drastic lifestyle changes.

The expert explained that morning hydration is crucial because our bodies are naturally dehydrated upon waking.

What's more, the brain often struggles to differentiate between hunger and thirst signals, so drinking will minimise the risk of cravings.

To effectively combat dehydration and curb unnecessary snacking, Adiana recommended opting for non-caffeinated and unsweetened liquids.

This should be followed by a savoury meal rich in protein, fat and fibre to help stabilise blood sugar levels, she said.

"This will balance your blood sugar from the beginning of the day and may prevent sugar cravings later on in the day," the nutritionist explained.

"An example would be an egg scramble with vegetables and herbs served with a slice of high-fiber bread topped with avocado."

She continued: "When we wake up we are dehydrated so we have a glass of non-caffeinated, unsweetened liquids like water or herbal teas are best.

"Our brains do not let us know the difference between hunger and thirst."

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to weight loss, so every individual should tailor their approach to their long-term goals.

By prioritising both morning hydration and a well-rounded breakfast, individuals can establish a solid foundation for their daily nutritional needs.
