A new budget-friendly recipe aimed at aiding weight loss has been put forward in a bid to help people on their weight loss journey.

Dr Clare Bailey, who is the wife of the late Dr Michael Mosley, said she has continued to "carry forward Michael's legacy" following his tragic death while on holiday earlier this year, by sharing nutritional advice on social media with fans of the late health guru.

Dr Bailey has come up with a fasting-friendly and keto-friendly version of a classic quiche which skips the calorie-excessive pastry and aligns with the Fast 800 diet - a version of intermittent fasting created by Dr Michael Mosley and Dr Bailey.

The protein-rich quiche recipe consists of eggs, milk, ricotta, defrosted frozen spinach, tarragon, cheddar cheese, and broad beans.

According to the Fast 800 website, each serving contains a modest 318 calories.

Dr Bailey said that by using frozen broad beans, the dish is accessible all year round.

She wrote on Instagram: "Protein is a health all-rounder, essential for rest, repair, maintaining muscle mass, and reducing your risk of chronic illnesses like osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease.

"Studies have also shown that it does wonders for weight loss, as it increases satiety, and can help to prevent weight regain.

"The team at The Fast 800 has created a fasting-friendly (and keto!) version of the classic quiche by skipping the pastry.

"Using frozen broad beans makes this dish budget-friendly and available all year round."

DIETING LATEST:

Dr Bailey added that the dish contains a whopping 25.9g of protein, 2.5g of fibre, 3.5g of carbs and 21.5g of fat per serving.

To make the quiche which serves four, home cooks will need eight large free range eggs, 120ml full fat milk, 120g of crumbled ricotta cheese, 80g of spinach, 2 tsp fresh tarragon, chopped 120g of grated cheddar cheese and 80g of defrosted and shelled broad beans.

The recipe is also very straightforward, taking just five steps, 10 minutes to prep and just 30 minutes to cook.

RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat your oven to fan forced 180°C/200°C/400°F/Gas mark 6.

2. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk and ricotta together with salt and pepper. Add spinach and tarragon and stir through.

3. Place shelled broad beans into an oven-safe dish and pour over the egg mix. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top (some will sink, this is okay).

4. Bake until set - about 30 minutes (rotate and check after about 20 minutes, larger batches will need longer).

5. Serve with a fresh side salad and enjoy with family and friends.

Fans of the health expert responded to the post, saying it looked "delicious" and admitting they couldn't wait to try it themselves.

One user replied to the post: "This looks really yummy. Thanks for sharing the recipe."

Another said: "Just saved the recipe, will definitely be making this."

A third wrote: "Hi Clare, great information - I'll definitely be having a go at this one. Thank you."

The Fast 800 diet championed which was championed by the late Dr Michael Mosley is known for helping individuals lose a considerable amount of weight in a relatively short time.

According to the website, the Fast 800 is "the umbrella term for a healthy lifestyle based on scientific evidence, encompassing diet, movement and mindfulness."

"Our programmes, products and resources are developed alongside Dr Michael Mosley and based on years of experience with fasting, the 5:2, high intensity interval training (HIIT) and the Mediterranean diet.

"The goal of The Fast 800 and our programme is to empower you with the tools and knowledge to live a healthy lifestyle long-term."
