An expert shared the four things apart from diet that can lead to successful weight loss in women
Women often gain weight during menopause, particularly around the midriff.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, a doctor shared four things to keep in mind if trying to fight this.
This means being as "physically active as possible, exercising in the fat-burning zone, getting enough sleep and drinking a lot of water," according to NYC weight loss doctor Dr Sue Decotiis, MD.
Adding more movement into your routine is important for burning calories. This could mean taking the dog for an extra walk or cycling to work.
However, it is important not to overdo it with intense exercise. The expert added: "Excessive exercise won’t be fruitful. Intense cardio is a huge myth."
Drinking more water is great for your skin, hair and overall health, but it can often lead to weight loss too.
It can suppress the appetite, meaning slimmers eat fewer calories throughout the day. Thirst can often be mistaken for hunger.
Being well hydrated can also help to boost the metabolism, which is vital for fat-burning in the body.
This is according to findings in the National Library of Medicine. It said: "Recent studies associate drinking water with sympathetic stimulation, which increases the metabolic rate (thermogenesis) and augment daily energy expenditure.
"Although the concept of water-induced thermogenesis is controversial, nevertheless drinking plenty of water is universally recommended as a means to reduce body weight."
Sleep is also known to be beneficial for losing fat. One of the main reasons for this is because, like water, it can help stabilise hunger cues.
When the body is tired, you can feel low in energy and mood and reach for calorific snacks to give a burst of energy.

One study explored this by restricting the calories of two groups. Those who spent 5.5 hours in bed lost less fat than those who spent 8.5 hours a day in bed.
The doctor's four lifestyle rules can help lead to weight loss, however diet is not something that should be completely forgotten.
Another doctor has shared five healthy foods slimmers should be careful of when trying to lose weight, as they can be full of hidden calories.
