And green tea is not just effective for reducing belly fat. According to a doctor, the hot drink has many health benefits, from fat burning to reducing a person's risk of developing dementia.
Dr Michael Mosley said that polyphenols found in green tea can "potentially boast some health perks including burning more fat when you exercise, boosting your mood and lowering your risk of developing heart disease and dementia".
As well as drinking green tea, the naturopathic doctor recommended stocking up on eggs.
Eggs contain choline which is an essential nutrient. When a person is low in choline, they tend to develop more visceral fat around their organs - "which is very dangerous for your overall health".
Focus on consuming egg yolks, as more choline can be found in these.
Eating eggs may also support weight loss because they are low in calories as well as being protein-rich. Foods that are high in protein can make a person feel more full, meaning they are less inclined to reach for unhealthy snacks throughout the day.
Dr Bowring also recommended that slimmers incorporate fish and seafood into their diets. She explained that the electrolytes found in these are great for your metabolism.
Next, she urged people to stock up on healthy fats such as avocado and olive oil.

Finally, those who want to lose belly fat should treat themselves to some dark chocolate, the doctor's "favourite".
Opt for chocolate that is 70 per cent and above. The antioxidants present have an "anti-obesity and anti-diabetic effect".
Weight loss experts urged dieters to enjoy dark chocolate if they're looking for something "sweet" to eat.
The experts advised: "If you are looking for something sweet, try eating berries or a square of dark chocolate."
