Earlier today, the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), will be investigating 368,309 Ford crossover SUVs.

The evaluation will cover Ford Edge crossovers from model years 2015-2017, amid fears the loss of braking ability occurs without any prior warning and results in a higher stopping distance caued by rear brake hose failure.

Ford has previously issued a recall notice for 488,000 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles in 2020 for brake hose failures in the US.

A total of 194,000 plug-in hybrid electric Jeep SUVs will be recalled following 13 reported fires relating to an internal voltage battery failure.

NHTSA documents state: "Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures, and not to recharge their vehicles until they are repaired. Dealers will update the high voltage battery pack software and replace the battery pack assembly, if necessary, free of charge."

Impacted vehicles include certain 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrid vehicles. Around 26,000 of impacted vehicles are outside of North America.

More than 27,000 vehicles are being recalled over a potential risk of the engine control unit software causing the engine to overheat or stall.

It is feared that the engine stall could increase the risk of an accident, while an overheated engine can increase the risk of a fire.

The NHTSA documents indicated that certain Mercedes and Maybach S580 luxury sedans from years 2021-2023 are included in the recall notice.

The Chinese electric car giant has informed the Chinese regulator that it will recall 97,000 of its EVs in response to a manufacturing fault that could lead to fire risks.

The fault, which involves a steering control unit, will result in the recall of Dolphin and Yuan Plus EVs manufactured in China between November 2022 and December 2023.

BYD, which stands for Build Your Dreams, said it would ask dealers to install a physical fix inside the affected vehicles, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).

Elon Musk's brand was forced to announce another recall notice for its Cybertruck model, marking the fourth recall so far this year.

More than 27,000 Cybertrucks will be recalled over fears the rearview camera image may be delayed and reduce the driver's view of what's behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

A filing with the NHTSA stated that with the condition present, the rearview camera display may appear blank for up to six to eight seconds when the vehicle is in reverse.
