'The advancements introduced across the Lucid Air lineup for 2025 further cement our leadership position'
American electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid has unveiled what it is calling the world's most efficient car, having achieved breakthrough results from recent testing.
The 2025 Lucid Air has been branded the most sustainable vehicle ever made, having achieved a landmark five miles per kilowatt hour of energy.
The Air Pure electric model also achieved a record 146MPGe rating, with the manufacturer praising the "most sustainable vehicle" ever made.
Lucid said the vehicle would have an EPA-estimated range of 420 miles from an 84kWh battery pack - a major milestone for the brand in its journey to decarbonise its operations.

The new model will also include a heat pump to improve real-world range, which was first employed on the Lucid Sapphire EV, but will now become standard across its lineup.
Lucid said the efficiency of the vehicle enables the Air Pure to deliver the range consumers expect while reducing the size of costly battery packs.
This will also enable the brand to produce more electric vehicles given the abundance of raw materials on offer with less being used to create larger batteries.
All vehicles will come equipped with new-generation DreamDrive Premium ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), which includes 3D Surround View Monitoring, live Blind Spot Display and more.
Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid, said the brand had raised the bar for all future electric vehicles and sustainable transport options.
He said: "The advancements introduced across the Lucid Air lineup for 2025 further cement our leadership position.
"Lucid Air is the very embodiment of our relentless approach to optimisation, enabling Air Pure to use less electrical energy than any other vehicle for any journey taken, A to B."
The 2025 Lucid Air Grand Touring model has an impressive 512 miles of estimated range, earning it the title of "range king". It will cost $110,900 (£85,664) and is available to order through Lucid's website.
Motorists looking for an "ideal all-rounder" with all-wheel drive and performance could opt for the Lucid Air Touring, priced at $78,900 (£60,941) with an estimated range of up to 406 miles.
The cheapest model is the Lucid Air Pure, which is the most efficient and sustainable vehicle on the market with 420 miles of range, five miles per kWh of energy and a price point of $69,900 (£53,989).
Lucid's goal is to "accelerate humanity's transition to sustainable transportation and energy through the creation of the most advanced EVs".
At present, these are only available for the United States market, although the brand is hoping to launch in the United Kingdom next year, based on 2023 plans.
