Experts are urging drivers to be aware of new data which found that 10 cars come with cheaper average car insurance prices than other popular models on the market.
French manufacturer Peugeot took home the top spot with its 206 model having average car insurance costs of just £241, narrowly beating out legacy brands and manufacturers.
The brand attracts cheaper car insurance rates thanks to its sturdy build, remarkable specifications and popularity among safer, more experienced drivers.
Despite being a major marque and considered one of the most premium brands, drivers could get their hands on a Porsche Boxster for £243, followed by the Mazda MX-5 for as little as £249.

Tom Banks, spokesperson for Go.Compare, highlighted the importance for drivers to know that their car insurance quotes depend on a number of factors.
He continued, saying: “The kind of driver you are, the area you live in, and where your car is parked all have an effect, as well as which car you drive.
“Your choice of vehicle can have a big impact on the cost of your insurance - typically, more powerful, sporty cars are more expensive to insure - whereas cars with smaller engines can be more affordable, not just in terms of insurance, but running costs too.
“It’s definitely worth taking the time to research car insurance before you commit to a car purchase - as this data shows, sometimes the cost of insuring your car isn’t always what you would expect.”

Two lesser-known models place fourth and fifth, showing that drivers can keep their costs down even without a big-name model.
Motorists can expect to fork out £262 and £272 when looking to insure the Toyota iQ and Citroen Xsara respectively.
Another surprising entrant in the top 10 list was the Land Rover Freelander, which placed in eighth with car insurance costs of £288.
This may surprise some drivers considering the difficulty owners have had when insuring the vehicle over the last year, as some motorists were quoted thousands of pounds for insurance or even refused cover altogether,
Last year, millions of drivers claimed on their policies with insurers paying roughly £1.13million out every hour.
Across the 12 months of 2023, insurance providers paid out a total of £9.9billion in claims for incidents on the road, vehicle damage and thefts.
But as more money was paid out, car insurance policies became more expensive to disincentive drivers from claiming.
The average price of car insurance is now roughly £465, with London seeing costs as high as £678, data suggests.
