Britons to see £2million speed cameras rolled out to help catch drivers breaking the law

The new speed cameras will be installed across Lancashire in the coming months
Drivers in Lancashire are being warned about new speed cameras set to be installed on two major roads with a history of safety concerns.
The £2.1million scheme launched by Lancashire County Council will see enforcement cameras installed on the A682 Colne Road in Burnley and Brierfield, as well as the A583 Blackpool Road in Kirkham through to Peel Hill.
The cameras aim to address road safety risks by targeting excessive speeds and anti-social driving behaviour on busy roads, with work expected to begin in April next year and be completed by the end of December.
The A682 Colne Road scheme is part of the Levelling Up East Lancashire programme, which combines £5million from Lancashire County Council and a provisional £50million from the Government to improve the community in northeast Burnley.

Speed cameras are funded by the Levelling Up East Lancashire programme
PAThe A583 Blackpool Road project is funded by the Department for Transport's Safer Roads fund which hopes to target England's 50 most dangerous A-roads.
Councillor Rupert Swarbrick, cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said: "Both of these roads have a history of serious collisions where excessive speed has been a factor and we understand how concerned local communities are about their safety record.
"Residents in Burnley in particular have strongly voiced calls for safety improvements on the A682 Colne Road through our community engagement.
"The scheme we are developing shows that we are listening to our residents, and the new cameras will help to save lives and make these two A roads safer for everyone."
These initiatives seek to provide faster and more reliable bus journeys, safer streets, access to better jobs, more attractive town centres, and enhanced public spaces.
Drivers are advised to be aware of the upcoming speed camera installations which can see them slapped with £100 penalties.
Lancashire Police stated: “Anyone caught speeding by an Officer could be issued a TOR (Traffic Offence Report), resulting in a conditional offer of fixed penalty which is currently £100 and three points on their licence.”
It added that excessive and inappropriate speeding is one of the main contributors to avoidable collisions, as well as being a top priority for drivers. Lancashire Police said it would "conduct daily speed checks across the county as well as enforcing fixed, mobile and average speed cameras".
The new enforcement measures on the A682 and A583 hope to create new steps towards reducing accidents and creating safer road conditions for all users.
The Colne Road scheme has been developed following community engagement in Burnley, with residents making it clear that making the A682 safer should be a top priority for the county council.
However, the new cameras have been met with mixed views from drivers with one person stating "its a step too far". Posting on social media, someone shared: "I have a really big issue with these, it is a step too far.
"So many seem oblivious and compliant to the invasion of privacy under the guise of it being for your own good and safety."

PASomeone else claimed: "Haven’t got a problem with speed cameras IF they’re placed where children are likely to be ie schools etc and also at major accident black spots. Other than that the money should go towards repairing the potholes, drainage, road markings and such like."
Another person suggested: "I think the effort and resource would be better used elsewhere, get mugged or burgled and nobody cares. but someone goes 35 or has a sip of coffee whilst driving and the FBI turn up."
