“Art has made my life magical at a time when I thought it would be unbearable," Billy told The Times.

Symptoms of Parkinson's include tremors, slowness of movement and muscle stiffness, according to NHS.

Those with the condition can also experience balance problems, a loss of sense of smell, nerve pain and dizziness.

Billy has taken a step back from performing since his diagnosis, although he recently spoke about his career and illness in his book Rambling Man: My Life on the Road.

The comedian explained he will often need the assistance of a stick when walking and sometimes needs a wheelchair.

He said he is "clumsy and out of balance", which he said he is "fed up with".

Despite this, he tries to stay positive regarding his illness.
