Disney+ has dropped a tantalising trailer for new documentary series, Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story

Wayne Rooney has appeared in an all-new promo for his wife Coleen's upcoming documentary about her high-profile libel case with Rebekah Vardy.

Dubbed the 'Wagatha Christie' trial, a new documentary will hear the Rooneys' side of the story in-depth for the first time since a judge ruled in Coleen's favour.

The libel case was a result of Coleen claiming that Vardy was the person leaking fake stories from a private Instagram account to The Sun.

Coleen claimed to have purposefully posted lies on the account in the hopes they would appear in the papers after she made them only viewable to Vardy on the social media platform.

Vardy - who broke her own silence on Coleen's public claims in August - ended up suing Coleen for libel but ultimately had to fork out for a vast proportion of the legal expenses after a judge dismissed her claim.

The trailer for Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story focuses on the new Birmingham City manager's wife and the case as a whole - as well as hearing from her husband himself.

The former England striker appeared to be in the dark about his wife's online detective efforts as he expressed his surprise during his sit-down interview.

Addressing the incident publicly for the first time, the 37-year-old said to the interviewer in a snippet from the trailer: "What has she done here?"

Throughout the trailer, clips of the Rooneys arriving and leaving the High Court where the trial took place are played out.

And Wayne wading into the row for the first time isn't the only eye-catching piece of footage from the explosive promo.

"Have you still got the post on your phone?" the interview asks as the trailer kicks off, to which Coleen replies: "Yeah... They're my words and I stick by them."

Coleen delved further during the promo: "Someone on my personal account was informing The Sun newspaper of my private posts and stories.

"I thought, 'I'm gonna do something about it'," she adds. "I needed evidence, I had to set a trap."

Later, Coleen admits she "never imagined being in a legal battle" after sharing the initial post before shedding light on Vardy's first response.

"I had a message off Rebekah saying, 'What is this?'" Coleen revealed. "I replied, 'You know what this is.'"

The documentary will also delve into the effect the trial had on her well-being, as the trailer shows Coleen saying: "It was just constantly on my mind. My dad said, 'You're just not you anymore.'"

And the trailer ends with a rather defiant taunt from Coleen as she tells the camera: "Don't play games with a girl who can play better."

Promoting the show, Coleen shared the promo to her own Instagram profile and even took a leaf from the post which sparked the ordeal in the caption.

"It's…time for my account," Coleen captioned the clip to her 936k followers, sparking floods of excited comments about the series.

The documentary premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, October 18.
