The 22 Kids and Counting star had been gearing up to ship her family to the countryside

Sue Radford, the mum of Britain's biggest family and star of Channel 5's 22 Kids and Counting, has opened up on missing out on her dream family abode.

Earlier this year, the Radfords had planned to ditch their 10-bedroom home in Morecambe for a larger estate in the countryside.

Sue and Noel had planned to buy the £850,000 country home to provide more space for themselves and their kids, as well as escape the hustle and bustle of the town.

However, things weren't meant to be as the deal collapsed, prompting the Radfords to stay put and undertake some big renovations to their Morecambe home.

Ahead of the new series of 22 Kids and Counting, which will return to Channel 5 soon, Sue has spoken at length about the saga and her feelings on the ordeal.

"We really wanted to move to the countryside for a quieter life, a bit more privacy," Sue began.

"When it fell through it was absolutely gutting, but sometimes you think these things happen for a reason and I guess it was just not meant to be.

"It was upsetting when it happened. The house move was an emotional episode," she opened up to OK!

However, despite the ordeal being an "upsetting" and "gutting" one, Sue's feelings towards pursuing her dream home have changed due to the fact she'd have had to leave five of her eldest children behind.

She continued: "It always bothered me that some of the older kids were going to still live in this house and we were going to go and live in the new house.

"So I’m glad that we’re not doing it now. There are so many memories that have been made in this house.

"It would have been a shame to have left it behind," the Channel 5 star added to the publication.

Earlier this year, Radford had to break the news to fans about the failed house move after many began to question why she was decorating their Morecambe home.

The Radford matriarch explained on social media in response to a fan's probe: "No (the move) fell through and we decided that we didn't want a mortgage going into our 60s - too old for that now.

"I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason and I'm so glad he took it off the market now."

Sue and Noel are parents to Britain's biggest family, sharing Chris, 35, Sophie, 30, Chloe, 28, Jack, 27, Daniel, 25, Luke, 23, Millie, 22, Katie, 21, James, 20, Ellie, 19, Aimee, 18, Josh, 17, Max, 15, Tillie, 14, Oscar, 12, Casper, 11, Hallie, nine, Phoebe, seven, Archie, six, Bonnie, five and Heidie, four.

Alfie, their 17th born, was stillborn in 2014 but Sue and the Radfords continue to keep his memory alive.

Earlier this month to mark the decade anniversary of Alfie's death, Sue took to Instagram with a poignant post honouring her son.

She penned: "This time 10 years ago I was in a labour room being told our beautiful baby boy had no heartbeat.

"I would be induced a few hours later for him to be born silent but perfect at 7.54am the next morning. This time of year never ever gets easier. I can't believe it's 10 years tomorrow since he was born."
