Sophie Turner issues statement on Joe Jonas divorce after 'feeling trapped' in marriage

After four years of marriage, Joe Jonas has officially filed for divorce from Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.
The pair, who share two daughters together, have faced intense speculation about their relationship for months ever since Turner jetted back to the UK from the States for work without her other half.
Now, on Wednesday, September 6, Turner and Jonas released a joint statement on Instagram addressing the divorce.
"After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage," the statement began.
"There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
The statement comes in a week that Turner has also been pictured letting loose on her return to the UK after reuniting with friends.

Earlier this week, the 27-year-old partied at an arcade bar in Birmingham alongside pals after wrapping up filming on ITV series, Joan.
Jonas, meanwhile, remained in the US with their two children although is reported to have flown to the UK this summer to try and mend their marriage.
The 34-year-old singer has since filed to end their marriage at Florida's Miami-Dade County Court and the papers state "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken," [via Associated Press].
An unnamed friend of Turner's has since spoken out about the split and claimed the disagreements between the two stem from Turner's desire to recapture her younger years.
Turner and Jonas first started dating in 2016 when she was coming to the end of her teenage years - in which she spent a cast proportion acting in HBO's global sensation Game of Thrones.
The friend said: "Sophie feels like she's only just waking up to what her life and reality really is.
"She became famous at a very young age, then married and had kids at a young age and never really had the teenage years of sleeping around and just having carefree fun with friends."
The unnamed pal went on to tell the Daily Mail that Turner reportedly feels her personal and professional life "stalled" after GOT ended in 2019.
Not only that but since becoming a mother, Turner supposedly had felt "trapped" with the pal adding: "She's the only person in her tight friendship group who is married with two children."
They added: "Now she feels that she wants to make up for the time she's lost as a young person."
Turner is reportedly not ready for the "more settled life" Jonas was vying for with his young family due to her newfound desire to recapture her youth.

According to TMZ, the divorce files state there is a prenuptial agreement set between the two.
A source also echoed the unnamed friend's comment as they added to the US publication: "She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles."
GB News has contacted Turner's representatives for comment.
The pair married in an incredibly private ceremony in Las Vegas on May 1, 2019, and enjoyed a second ceremony the following month at Chateau de Tourreau in the south of France.
Their first daughter Willa was born in 2020 and they welcomed their second child last year but remain tight-lipped on the tot's name.
