Singer Ronan Keating has sparked concern for his wife Storm after posting a cryptic message on his Instagram account.

The 47-year-old shared a snap of his tattoo depicting a warrior carrying a sword and talked about his wife of nine years facing "a challenge".

Along with the picture, Keating penned in view of his 548,000 followers: "For you my warrior today and every day. My Stormy.

"A challenge ahead but your strength blows my mind. With you every step. Love you baby."

The post led to some concerned comments for the 42-year-old, who met Keating during The X Factor Australia in 2010.

"Hope all is ok, whatever it is - you got this Storm xx," one person wrote.

Another added: "All our love from the Schultes Ro, and a big squeeze to you both. She’s absolutely got this x."

Presenter Zoe Ball also offered her support, commenting: "Sending you all love and strength x."

"She’s the strongest," another remarked, while a fifth added: "Sending you both so much love. Hope she is ok @rokeating @stormykeating."

"Beautiful, hoping Storm is ok," another worried fan stated. (sic)

Neither Keating nor his Australian television producer wife has disclosed any further details, but the latter did reveal over the weekend she had cancelled work in order to spend more time with her children.

In a smiley snap of herself and their two children, Cooper Archer and Coco Knox, enjoying ice creams in the sunshine.

She captioned the post: "One of those days when you spontaneously decide not to rush back to the office and instead, clear the afternoon so you can detour to the playground."

The producer has had surgery in the past in her battle with Cauda Equina Syndrome, which causes nerves at the bottom of the spine to become compressed, leading to serious problems if untreated.

Back in March, former Boyzone star Keating made headlines for slamming Louise Walsh, who had referred to Keating as "such a pr***" during his stint on Celebrity Big Brother.

A resurfaced audio from 2006 revealed exactly what Keating thought of his former band manager, with the Irish singer claiming: "He hurt me, he really hurt me and he knows it.

"I don’t have any time for the guy. We’re a million miles from each other. I have no respect for Louis because he has none for me."

According to The Sun, he concluded: "He was very jealous of me."
