The former This Morning star is thought to be preparing for a return to screens

Phillip Schofield seems to have reached out to Jeremy Clarkson amid rumours he's eyeing a return to television screens.

Schofield, 62, has kept a low profile in the year since his affair scandal, which made headlines for weeks last May.

It's been speculated the former This Morning host is now hoping for a comeback as he recently returned to social media and has been spotted in public with other big names.

After taking to Instagram earlier this month for the first time since the controversy, it seems Schofield could be hoping to ease back into the spotlight.

On Wednesday evening, Schofield shared another public snap, this time messaging Jeremy Clarkson, 64, via his Instagram Stories.

Sharing a sweet clip of his pooch Alfie entranced by the television, Schofield penned: "Thank goodness we love watching the same shows.. he’s obsessed with Clarkson's farm!"

Schofield tagged the former Top Gear presenter in the post as he tuned into the latest series of his Amazon Prime farming series.

In the next story, Alfie could be seen barking at the screen when Clarkson's pigs appeared.

It comes after Schofield broke his social media silence by recently sharing another snap of Alfie watching TV.

He was also spotted in public laughing and joking with Declan Donnelly, which some believe could further confirm his plans for a return to the world of entertainment.

Earlier this month, celebrity PR specialist Kayley Cornelius explained why she has theorised that Schofield's team is attempting to "sprinkle" him back into the public eye as rumours of a possible I'm A Celeb stint later this year continue to circulate.

On behalf of Betfred, she explained to GB News: "After Phil’s controversy and the stark end to his This Morning career, there’s no surprise that he went straight into hiding for several months following the incident and left many speculating whether he would eventually return to TV or he would permanently call it quits.

"However, as tensions start to die down, there are now signs to indicate that Phil could be teasing his return to the big screens, and it could be as soon as this year."

Speaking about the increased sightings of Schofield, she added: "In recent months, paparazzi shots appear more calculated.

"While I wouldn't outright claim they're staged, it's clear his team recognises that Phil's increasing public presence and interactions with celebrity friends naturally draw press attention.

"It seems they've shifted from their previous mission of keeping Phil out of the spotlight to a more embracing stance.

"In PR, we call this the ‘sprinkle sprinkle’ method. This is when you subtly reintroduce a concept, person, or product to an audience to gauge their reaction, and is typically used as a form of risk assessment before finalising projects."
