Noel Edmonds, 75, sparks fury after saying 'Mr Blobby makes Ed Balls look slim' in brutal 'fat-shaming' dig

The Noel's House Party host left several viewers unimpressed with his jibe
Noel Edmonds, 75, has been accused of "fat-shaming" politician-turned-TV presenter Ed Balls following an interview on Monday morning.
The former Deal or No Deal host joined Balls and Susanna Reid to discuss his career in the limelight, why he's been off UK TV screens for a decade and what he's got in the pipeline.
The crux of Edmonds' appearance was to urge the nation to get behind radio stations and promote his own ventures in the online radio business.
He also opened up about falling victim to a bank scam back in the mid-2010s.
To end the interview on a light-hearted note, Balls and Reid decided to surprise Edmonds with a reunion with the children's personality, Mr Blobby.
As expected, Blobby entered the studio as Edmonds conceded: "I had a funny feeling this would (happen)."

As Blobby began to pester and harass Edmonds, he played along with the joke, telling Blobby: "No, I'm not doing a radio station for you. It would be boring!"
"We want Mr Blobby Radio!" Reid yelled as Blobby began to climb over the GMB studio sofas.
Eventually, Edmonds embraced Blobby in a huge which is when he decided to take aim at presenter Balls.
"The only thing that can be said about this, is he makes Ed look slim!' Edmonds remarked, leaving Balls open-mouthed in shock.

Reid was similarly surprised by Edmonds' jibe and promptly moved the show on to an advert break.
While Edmonds may have been joking, his comments did not go down well with a cast majority of ITV viewers at home.
In response to the GMB account's video of the incident, in which Edmonds and Blobby were described as "legends" in the caption, one fan hit back: "Maybe he was okay 30 years ago but dull and boring not to mention rude now."
"What an obnoxious big headed t**t Noel Edmonds is #GMB," a second similarly fumed.
A third suggested Edmonds went too far: "Oh Noel, you didn't need to go there with the Ed Balls weight comment!"
"Noel Edmonds so rude. Absolutely no need to say that to Ed #GMB," added a fourth before a fifth echoed: "Noel Edmond’s just fat shamed @edballs using Mr Blobby. #GMB."

However, there was some praise for seeing Edmonds back on screens after so long away.
One viewer typed on X: "Just made my day. Great to have Noel back (for too short a while). A throw back to when radio was a great thing.
"Can't understand why anyone thinks he was being rude. He told his story about being badly treated by banks (like the Post Office, Maxwell pensions) and about radio."
And another simply urged: "Bring back noels house party!!!!" (sic)
