Michael Mosley's wife has released a new statement following his tragic death last month.

TV doctor Mosley, 67, died during of natural causes during a holiday in Symi after falling ill while on a solo walk on the Greek island.


Now, his wife Dr Clare Bailey Mosley has talked about the outpouring of love the family has received following the tragedy as she explained how she and her four children are "trying to put our lives back together" without their beloved husband and father.

Mosley is set to be honoured by the BBC, who will be celebrating his podcast, Just One Thing. The medical professional used the platform to dispense simple tips and advice on small ways people could improve their health.

The presenters are set to adopt one thing taught by Mosley, sharing his expert tips with viewers.

Clare commented on her late husband's lasting legacy as she commented on how "proud" she felt of Mosley in a new Instagram post.

"We are trying to put our lives back together without Michael and it’s very hard," the lengthy statement began.

The candid and heartbreaking admission continued: "Not all the time. We can smile and laugh too. As well as comfort each other.

"Grief can feel overwhelming. Light and beautiful. Catch you by surprise. Feel like the weight of a stone or a sharp pain. It changes unexpectedly. As people often say, it’s a journey, not all sad and you take each day at a time."

Alongside a photo of herself and late husband smiling for the camera, she continued: "The extraordinary outpouring of grief and gratitude for Michael and how he has changed so many lives is very moving, including the heartfelt thoughts and kindness extended to us as a family, for which we are incredibly grateful.

"We sincerely hope that we can continue to share his positive message going forward.

"Because while we are learning to live without Michael, he is ever-present through the lives that he touched and the difference he made.

"The BBC’s celebration of Michael’s life tomorrow with ‘Just One Thing Day’ is wonderful.

"A day dedicated to the impact he had on people’s lives and to celebrate his legacy within broadcasting and beyond – it's humbling and delightful all at once. We are so grateful."

Mosley is famed for introducing the 5:2 diet through his book The Fast Diet.

He built a successful career as a television doctor, appearing on several daytime TV shows as well as presenting and making documentaries.
