Paris Jackson has taken to social media to release a statement on what would've been her dad's 65th birthday
Tuesday, August 29 marked 65 years since the iconic Michael Jackson was born.
The Thriller hitmaker died at the age of 49 in 2009 but 14 years on he continues to be a beloved figure among millions.
On Tuesday, fans from across the globe joined a number of famous faces in paying tribute to Jackson to mark what would've been his 65th birthday.
His daughter Paris Jackson also followed suit by addressing her father in a video.
In it, she revealed the horrid backlash she's faced after failing to do so in previous years.
The 25-year-old told her 4.2million Instagram followers: "So today’s my dad’s birthday.
"Back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday, wishing him a happy birthday, celebrating it, nothing like that.
"He actually didn’t want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn’t want us to throw a party," she continued.

Addressing the social media backlash she's faced in years gone by, she explained: "If you don’t wish someone a happy birthday via social media, it apparently means that you don’t love them, you don’t care about them.
"There have been times where I don’t post anything for my dad’s birthday, and people lose their f*****g minds. They tell me to kill myself.
"And they’re basically measuring my love for my own father based off of what I post on Instagram."
Jackson's daughter then shared a clip from a gig for rock band Incubus from Tuesday in which she took to the stage.
The clip shows the actor praising her father for the "50 years of blood, sweat, and tears" he put into his career and commending the opportunities it has opened to her.
Proving she still remembers her father fondly on his birthday, she followed this up with another clip of herself in which she explained: "Now, if you are an MJ super-fan and you wanna do something that he would've loved...
"My suggestion would be - there's always ways to get involved with raising awareness for climate change, doing stuff for the environment, animal rights activism...
"These were things that he loved and he was very, very interested in.
"I can't speak for him because I'm a different person and I don't know but I'm sure he would've loved that.
"And so if you want to pay homage and honour him on his birthday, that would be my suggestion."
The 25-year-old then penned a long list of thank you messages to Incubus and others involved in the tour which allowed her to take to the stage on her dad's birthday.

Jackson's daughter's heartfelt sentiment was widely praised by many of her father's fans but she still found herself on the receiving end of backlash for the message.
She was accused of purposefully showing off her armpit hair, something the body-confident star has never shied away from.
But in this instance, she explained in a separate tweet: "I wasn’t tying my hair up to show off my armpit hair.
"I’ve not shaved it for years and forget it’s there all the time. Get over yourselves.
"I was pulling my hair up to show my glass cutting jawline," she sarcastically added.
