Kevin Spacey faced nine charges in the sexual offences trial at London's Southwark Crown Court

Kevin Spacey has been found not guilty on all counts at his sexual offences trial.

The actor had pleaded not guilty to seven charges of sexual assault and one charge of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

He also pleaded not guilty to one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity.

The allegations allegedly took place in the UK between 2001 and 2013 and relate to four men.

The jury retired on Tuesday afternoon to deliberate and came to the decision today.

Spacey cried from his spot in the dock when the not guilty verdicts were returned by the jury and his acquittal was confirmed.

He then hugged his manager and legal team as tears continued to stream down his face.

Jurors were told by prosecutors during the four-week trial that the actor had aggressively groped three of the men in incidents between 2004 and 2013 in Britain.

The alleged incidents were claimed to have occurred when Spacey was working at London's Old Vic theatre.

However, Spacey's barrister Patrick Gibbs KC claimed that his client had been “tried by social media”.

He'd also passionately told the jury: "It's not a crime to like sex, even if you're famous and it's not a crime to have sex, even if you're famous.

"And it's not a crime to have casual sex. And it's not a crime to have sex with someone of the same sex because it's 2023 not 1823."

The not guilty verdict was delivered on a day where Spacey celebrates his 64th birthday.
