Jonnie Irwin marks heartbreaking 'last ever' milestone with son amid terminal cancer battle

The presenter has taken to Instagram to share the sweet moment with his fans
Jonnie Irwin is currently spending more time at home with his wife Jess and three sons Rex, Rafa, and Cormac.
The A Place in the Sun host is battling terminal cancer after it spread from his lung to his brain following his 2020 diagnosis and he's continued to keep active with his young family.
In one of his latest updates from home, Irwin marked a major moment in son Rex's life.
The TV presenter revealed it was the "last ever" time he'd be accompanying his son to nursery.
Alongside a series of snaps of Irwin and his son, Irwin penned: "Last EVER ride to nursery with Rex.
"Suitably waved off by Rafa and his spade and Rex with his game face on!"

Irwin was all smiles as he wrapped up in a khaki coat and baseball cap while his sons look as adorable as ever in their patterned outfits.
The star shared another selfie later in the slideshow with just Rex before they'd reach the pre-school.
Before long, fans were quick to praise Irwin's resilience and upbeat attitude as he continues to enjoy precious time with his children.
"You are just an amazing person! I watched you on Escape to the Country! Love that show," one fan said. "People can learn so much from you!
"Nobody knows how our life takes us! But you showed something I never saw! Humility, love competition, and much more! Toe are brave man!!!!!"
Meanwhile, a second added: "Johnnie those boys will learn so much about your strength & tenacity, memories to last them their lifetime.
"You're truly inspirational and what a Daddy you have shown them to be," they added.
A third echoed: "You are just the best Jonnie. I always liked you the best on Place in the Sun and Escape to the Country.

Irwin was first diagnosed with cancer in 2020 but went public with the disease in late-2022 when it had spread to his brain from his lung.
He regularly shares updates with his followers about his home life, although recently things didn't quite go to plan at home.
Irwin shared a snap of an ice pack on his ankle after sustaining an injury.
He revealed it was due to building work he and his wife were having done at their home as they renovate their Newcastle abode.
