The A Place in the Sun host shared a snapshot of his recent day out at the cricket

Jonnie Irwin was a picture of positivity this past weekend as he travelled to Old Trafford to watch day two of the fourth test between England and Australia.

The series has ended in disappointment for England fans as rain meant the fourth test ended in a draw and a subsequent retainment of the Ashes for Australia, but it didn't stop Irwin from having a "delightful day" soaking in the action.

Taking to Instagram, Irwin shared a snap of himself enjoying the match as well as a handful of clip from his day out.

He captioned the post :"I can’t thank @emiratesot enough for a delightful day at the test, especially Debbie who made everything happen.

"The hospitality and seats were excellent," the A Place in the Sun star continued.

"A great days Cricket (if you’re an England fan. Now on the rattler back to The Toon. I’ll sleep well tonight…)"

Irwin stopped for a snap during the day as he donned a buttoned-up shirt and striped scarf alongside a pal.

And inevitably it didn't take long for his followers to praise the presenter for putting on a resilient display following his terminal cancer diagnosis.

One fan praised Irwin: "God bless you Jonnie, your strength. Your such a fighter, the strength you have, determination your just amazing....and of course the best ever presenter..."

A second echoed this sentiment: "Delighted you had such an enjoyable day. Keep strong. A man to be admired."

And another weighed in: "You are inspiring and inspirational Jonnie, my whole family love you x sleep well love always to you and your beautiful family

Elsewhere, a fourth added: "Keep doing your thing what a warrior and inspiration to many."

And a fifth concurred: "So nice to see you out and about enjoying yourself. You deserve it - keep strong."

Irwin has been spending much of his time at his family home in Newcastle after the cancer first detected in his lung had spread to his brain.

The Escape to the Country star has spoken candidly about his diagnosis and how it's impacted his life with wife Jess and his three young children.

In fact, Irwin claimed some doctors told him they didn't expect him to see 2023.

He was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020 and during a recent appearance at the TRIC Awards, he admitted he "takes every day as it comes".

Irwin continues to defy expectations and has been sharing regular updates from his home as he renovates his Newcastle-based house.

Just last week, Irwin admitted he was "really happy" to have converted an "unused" and "cold" room in his house into a stunning and welcoming spot to relax.
