The stylist had a few stories to share about some of the most well-known celebs

Joan Collins has been branded “incredibly rude” by a top celebrity stylist as he has recounted some of his most vivid memories from his decades-long career.

Dean Aslett, also known by the moniker ‘Mr Safety Pin’, has helped style some of the most famous names on the planet, including the late Princess Diana, Liz Hurley and Victoria Beckham.

One of Aslett’s most vivid memories is adjusting Princess Diana’s gown at Kensington Palace while on his hands and knees.

However, the stylist laid bare that “the ultimate diva” whom he styled was not Elton John or Diana but in fact Joan Collins.

“You had to be careful with Joan,” Aslett told Mail Online, “She was a scary one, formidable.

“She had the mouth of Marilyn Monroe but the eyes of Caligula.

“And that tongue was so sharp you worried she'd cut her own neck with it.

“I was on the receiving end of it a few times.

“Once, in Barbados, we were at dinner and I was sitting beside my friend and former boss, the designer Antony Price.

“Joan decided she wanted to be next to him. ‘Move. Move, right now,’ she said.

“She could be incredibly rude. I ended up slumming it next to Lord and Lady Bamford, which wasn't the worst outcome, but that was Joan.”

Aslett has also recounted how he bumped into Gianni Versace at a cinema foyer just a day before he was murdered in 1997.

“One of those random coincidences,” he said of the encounter.

“He couldn't place me. I said ‘Dean, from the London store!’ and he went ‘La Deana!’. He had this thing about feminising names.

“We chatted and he said I should come round the next weekend for an aperitif.

“The next day, in my hotel, I put on the news and there it was on the screen. Gianni Versace dead.”
