Some fans of the show have argued the media personality isn't "a celebrity"

ITV I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! is back on screens this weekend, with 10 famous faces set to be stripped of their usual luxuries and put through their paces in the gruelling reality show.

Among them is Coleen Rooney, who has hit headlines in recent years amid the infamous "Wagatha Christie" court case against fellow footballer's wife Rebekah Vardy.

In the run-up to the new series debut, the official I'm A Celebrity Instagram account is slowly introducing each camp mate, but the recent post about Rooney, 38, saw fans vocally disagreeing with the job title of "TV Personality" written in the announcement post.

While she has been married to former footballer Wayne Rooney since 2008, many have argued she isn't famous in her own right and cited the recent legal battle which drew huge public attention as her only claim to fame.

Many others argued she is famed only for being the former Manchester United star's wife.

Sharing a series of snaps, the ITV show account posted a photo of Rooney as well as a picture reading "TV Personality," captioning the post: "This Rooney is ready to rumble!"

Taking to the comments, disgruntled fans of the show made it known they disagreed with Rooney's casting on the reality show.

"Why, she not a celebrity, her husband is. What a waste of money," one fumed.

"Sorry did it just say ‘tv personality?'" another asked, adding laughing emojis.

"Celebrity?? Only known for being married to Wayne," another echoed.

A fourth argued: "Tv personality??? She’s an ex footballers wife….."

"You mean married to a ex footballer if they never got married she would be a no body," another shared.

"Love how they put tv personality she's a footballers wife that is all," someone else penned.

Someone else commented: "TV personality," with a red X followed by "top detective" with a green tick emoji.

Others in the comments section defended Rooney though, with one writing: "WINNER. JUST CROWN HER NOW." (sic)

Wagatha Christie was the popularised name was given to the infamous dispute between the two public figures, which ended with a libel case in 2022.

It all started back in 2019 when Rooney shared a post on X accusing Vardy, 42, of secretly operating a social media account and leaking posts from Rooney's private Instagram to the press.

The following year, Vardy sued Rooney for libel, with the case going to trial in May 2022.

The court dismissed Vardy's claim, reaching the verdict that Rooney's statements had been substantially true.

Vardy was operated to pay a proportion of Rooney's legal expenses, amounting to a total of £3 million when added to Vardy's own legal costs.
