The show aired in an unusual Saturday night spot on ITV

The BRITs 2024 kicked off with a bang as famous faces shone at the O2 Arena during the show, which broke its usual tradition by airing on a Saturday night rather than during the week.

This year's hosts included Roman Kemp, Clara Amfo and Maya Jama. The presenters left viewers divided though, with some praising the trio as talented stars while others believed they weren't up to the big task.

With a huge selection of musical sensations set to win big and others performing at the glitzy event, the ceremony saw all its usual build of anticipation as the stars' arrivals got fans talking.

However, once the event itself began to air, viewers couldn't agree on what to make of this year's presenters fronting the show.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, different opinions were put forward about Kemp, Amfo and Jama. One person wrote: "I [usually] like Roman, Clara and Maya however they are not Brits presenters… they are a bit… too serious… where’s the banter?!?#brits #britawards."

"Bring back Jack and his awkward enthusiasm at basically being one of us playing amongst his fave artists and drinking. There is literally no spontaneity and atmosphere tonight. Both audience and presenters bringing nothing #BRITs," a second penned.

"Okay it's official. I'm old. #BRITs. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE ? These presenters are not it. AT ALL. For the show. For the awards so far. Was everyone else busy or something?" a third fumed.

"Lasted two minutes watching the hosts and first award presenters. Complete cringe!!#BRITs #thebritawards," another remarked.

"They should make a category to vote for the best presenter for the brits bc this is so hard to watch #BRITs," someone else shared.

However, others were quick to jump to the presenters' defence. One argued: "I’ve not been a capital listener or know much about Roman but I don’t get the hate, I think he’s one of the more natural presenters #brits."

Another stated: "Hope Maya Jama's back is ok she's fully carrying this show #BRITs."

"Clara Amfo is the host tonight, Roman is hmm ok, Maya Jama… naaa. #Brits #BritAwards," another fan commented. (sic)

Another talking point of the night was, predictably, the outfits. The glamorous statements caught peoples' attention, but one of the most memorable clothing decisions came from comedian Rob Beckett.

Beckett took a different approach to the traditionally luxurious outfits and has instead dressed up as a giraffe for the prestigious event, standing out from the crowd in the huge inflatable costume.

The presenter, 38, was all smiles as he posed for photos when he joined the famous faces on the red carpet, with just his face and arms visible in the inflatable outfit.

Fans tuned into the ITV2 Red Carpet coverage were left baffled by the strange outfit choice, with many taking to social media to question why he'd made the unique dressing decision.

While it's unclear why he chose to go as a giraffe, many have pointed out it could be because the comedian's upcoming tour is called Giraffe.

Meanwhile, some called for a change to the awards show, making their feelings clear as they raced to X to give their views.
