Love Island fan-favourite Maura Higgins has chosen a side in the “Wagatha Christie” feud as she prepares to join her I’m a Celebrity campmates.

The 33-year-old is making her way Down Under with broadcaster and Church of England priest Richard Coles.

Higgins shot to stardom in the 2019 series of Love Island, where she ended the competition in 5th place.

After being announced as a late entrant to 2024’s Aussie adventure for I’m a Celebrity, the Irish model reflected on her new campmates – particularly Coleen Rooney.

“I'm excited to meet her (Rooney),” Higgins announced.

When it came to Rooney’s legal feud with fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy, Higgins declared she was definitively “team Coleen”.

Revealing to The Mail her thoughts of Rooney’s handling of the Vardy leaking private details to the press, the 33-year-old said: “I would do the exact same as what she did.”

“Put up something on my Instagram story and just have certain people view it to catch that person out. That is the way my brain would work,” Higgins explained.

Rooney’s method of exposing Vardy led to an unsuccessful defamation suit and enmity that continues to this day.

The former Love Island star added she was desperate to quiz Rooney on the trial – admitting she was a “bit nosey”.

Regarding her other campmates, Higgins said she was looking to seeing N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos, who she is already good friends with.

“I'll definitely get on with her,” the 33-year-old said, adding: “She's amazing.”

The Irish model will also be hoping for some emerald isle solidarity with boxer Barry McGuigan.

Higgins said she’d “get on really well” with the “very humorous” Irish fighter.

I’m a Celebrity’s iconic shower is another element of the show Higgins is eagerly anticipating, packing several bikinis for it specifically.

However, she admits: “I hate cold water so I could be the girl that doesn't shower the whole time.”

Higgins was speaking after only just returning from a whirlwind trip to Las Vegas which left some fans concerned she would not be going Down Under.

While staying in Vegas’ £400 a night Palazzo at the Venetian Hotel, the 33-year-old partied with Stacey Solomon and attended Adele’s residency concert.
