Actor Ewen MacIntosh has died at the age of 50, his friend confirmed on Wednesday.

MacIntosh's pal and CEO of Dodged A Bullet Music, Ed Scott, wrote online: "I am completely devastated by the loss of my very good friend Ewen MacIntosh.


"He may have had a famous face known by millions as Keith from The Office but the person inside is what I will most remember.

"Ewen was so full of empathy, kindness, and integrity and above all a really good man.

"Sending love to his parents Sara and Ewen Sr, his brother Colin and his family, as well as his many friends and fans."

Fans were similarly devastated as the flooded X, formerly Twitter, with tributes.

One fan penned: "It’s heartbreaking to hear of the passing of the office star Ewan Macintosh he was such a lovely man sending condolences to his family and friends Rest in Peace Ewan Macintosh #TheOffice #EwanMacintosh."

And a second simply put: "Aw RIP Ewen Macintosh #TheOffice #EwenMacintosh."

Meanwhile, Ricky Gervais similarly took to social media to pen a tribute to his former colleague.

Gervais not only worked with MacIntosh on The Office but the pair collaborated once again in his Netflix drama, After Life.

Gervais penned on X, formerly Twitter: "Extremely sad news.

"The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as 'Big Keith' from The Office, has passed away.

"An absolute original. RIP," Gervais signed off to his followers.

A cause of death hasn't been announced at the time of writing.

In recent years, the comedy actor had been vocal with his social media followers about his health woes, however.

Taking to X in February 2022, MacIntosh sparked concern with a snap from a hospital bed alongside a rather daunting caption.

He wrote to his followers: "Bad times for me I'm afraid chums. Stat strong out there," followed by a thumbs-up emoji. (sic)
