The owner of social media site X had a rather odd reaction to Swift's political stance
Elon Musk, 53, has been branded "creepy" and "weird" for his reaction to chart-topping singer Taylor Swift's, 34, endorsement of Democrat Kamala Harris.
On Tuesday evening, Harris faced off against Republican nominee Donald Trump in a televised debate in the USA ahead of this year's presidential election.
The debate has hit headlines across the globe in the hours since it aired after Trump and Harris engaged in a fiery war of words on a number of subjects including immigration, abortion and President Biden's track record.
The current VP also angered Trump when she ridiculed his political rallies while the debate itself came under fire from viewers for being supposedly biased towards the Democrat nominee.
Soon after the debate aired, Swift took to Instagram to pen a lengthy statement explaining why she'd be voting for Harris, writing to her 283 million followers: "Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most.
"As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country."
Swift went on to reference a fake image of her endorsing Trump had emerged online and how it conjured fears of misinformation which led her to go public with her political stance.
"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.
"I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades."
Swift signed off by urging her followers to "do their own research" and implored them to register.
Taylor Swift is one of the world's biggest musicians
GETTYIn the final line of her statement, Swift penned: "With love and hope, Taylor Swift. Childless Cat Lady."
She then shared a link to her followers to register to vote in the upcoming election via her Instagram Stories.
The statement garnered worldwide attention given the influence Swift has on younger voters, but it also piqued the interest of X owner Musk.
The 53-year-old took to the social media platform to mock Swift's departing quote as he penned to his 197.3 million followers: "Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life."
It didn't take long for X users around the globe to criticise the PayPal founder's remarks, with one bluntly replying: "You are creepy and weird."
"Am I reading this right that you are offering to have a child with Taylor Swift," a second confused person penned before a third weighed in: "Cringe just called & asked you to stop, Leon."
And a fourth also hit out at the businessman by typing: "Wtf??? Why are you all so damn weird."
Following his remarks aimed at Swift, Musk posted a separate post in which he shared his opinions on the televised debate.

Musk wrote: "While I don’t think the debate hosts were fair to @realDonaldTrump, @KamalaHarris exceeded most people’s expectations tonight.
"That said, when it comes to getting things done, not just saying nice-sounding words, I strongly believe that Trump will do a far better job.
"After all, if Kamala can do great things, why hasn’t she? Biden rarely shows up for work, so she’s basically in charge already.
"The question comes down to this: do you want current trends to continue for 4 more years or do you want change?" (sic)
