Hotels are reported to have hired security staff to break up any rows over sun loungers between holiday makers

The race for the prime-positioned sun lounger is one a number of holidaymakers across the globe participate in when they head away for a break in the sun.

And now, reports of hotels in Spain and the Mediterranean hiring security personnel and bouncers to stop any conflict have emerged in order to stop rows between holidaymakers

Hotels in some of the most sought-after destinations among UK tourists have now hired uniformed security guards to prevent conflict and enforce queues.

A number of holidaymakers are now forced to queue away from the concourse and pool before being allowed to beeline for their preferred spot.

There have been reports of a number of tourists therefore waking up before sunrise in order to make their way to the front of the queue in fear of missing out.

Now, former Labour MP Ed Balls has had his say during a televised discussion and suggested why such rows among tourists have broken out.

The politician-turned-TV-presenter questioned whether or not Brexit has played a part in Brits' abroad becoming embroiled in sun lounger wars.

"Do you think there is something happening here related to 2016, the Brexit referendum?" Balls said to travel expert Rob Staines.

He continued: "Do you think we're feeling less cooperative towards the Dutch, the Spanish, and the Germans?

"Is this Britain reasserting itself?" Balls' loaded question concluded.

Travel expert Staines dismissed Balls' ridiculous suggestion as he said he didn't think Brexit had "anything to do with it".

Balls' comments came during ITV's morning show Good Morning Britain and prompted floods of complaints from its viewers.

Taking to Twitter to slam Balls' line of questioning, one fan penned: "Can't believe Ed balls is blaming brexit are you for real."

While a second was similarly enraged: "Seriously, has Ed Balls just asked is this because of Brexit.

"Do they ever stop blaming Brexit, even when it makes them look stupid."

Another also blasted the presenter: "@GMB The useless Labourite Ed Balls saying has Brexit got something to do with hotel guests running for sunbeds. Why is he a presenter???"

And a fourth echoed: "It's not a 'layered and complex issue' you prat - people have been doing it since the 70s.

"Stop trying to tie it into the recent cost of living crisis and Brexit #gmb." (sic)
