The Escape to the Chateau family have returned to the UK for a new tour

Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree have revealed how their son Arthur, 11, was left in tears following a recent family day out.

The husband and wife duo are currently back in the UK as part of their latest theatre tour and this time, Arthur and his 10-year-old sister Dorothy have joined them.

While back home, Adoree and her husband have been able to reunite with her family in her hometown of Southend-on-sea.

And speaking on the latest episode of their podcast Dick & Angel's Chat...eau, the Strawbridges sound like they have been enjoying the last few days catching up and spending leisure time with Adoree's relatives.

So much so, Adoree admitted she'd never seen her father as "pickled" as he was following a Saturday evening party. On the following Sunday, she and Strawbridge had to ready themselves for a show while Arthur and Dorothy opted for a theme park.

"While we were going along and getting our final preparations together, where were the kids?" Strawbridge asked to which Adoree replied: "Well, Dorothy started off by having her nails done and then they went down to Adventure Island."

Strawbridge weighed back in: "Because when you're 10 apparently you really have to have your nails done. I don't get it, I will never get it.

"But do you wanna know something? There's so much fun to be had there. When Dorothy does my nails, she has more fun than her getting her nails done."

Adoree answered: "I agree, but Adventure Island... I've obviously got a lot of memories of that place from when I was young. They went down and they had a ball.

"And Arthur has always been - I mean, he's such a big, strong, wonderful, little lad - but he's always absolutely petrified of rollercoasters!

"To the point where there's this tiny one for children and when we last went on it and I will say this is a couple of years ago, Arthur cried in the queue. And Dorothy has never let him get (over it)."

Strawbridge attempted to paint the picture further as he teased: "You need to picture the scene. Imagine a rollercoaster that is actually quite up and down and rollercoaster-like, yes? And up in the air. It's not a scary rollercoaster but it's a rollercoaster.

"Now imagine going down the stairs to earth level and seeing a circle of water flowing with a little pirate ship going around with absolutely nothing and all the kids were in there going, 'Choo, choo train' in the little boat.

"Arthur was at his happiest going around the oval of water completely calm in the boat really slowly.

"Even when he was a really big boy but younger, looking up at Dorothy with hands in the air screaming as she goes up and down the rollercoaster. That's our boy," Strawbridge beamed with pride before he remarked: "(But) he's changed a bit now, hasn't he?"

"He has. This is the big change in the last couple of years," Adoree replied, explaining that she'd encouraged her 11-year-old to face his fears and take on a "gentle" rollercoaster.

Adoree revealed he was "absolutely fine" when he got on the ride but beforehand, "he was very upset in the queue".

Luckily for the family, Arthur was able to conquer his fears and Adoree even admitted they'd got a wonderful photo from the rollercoaster of her children.
