The pair gave a rare insight into the relationship between Arthur and Dick's son James

Dick and Angel Strawbridge may not be filming Escape to the Chateau anymore, but their fans love to be updated about their family goings-on in their podcast.

In a recent episode of Dick & Angel's Chat...Eau, the two reflected on a special family moment and gave a rare insight into the relationship between Strawbridges' two sons, James and Arthur.

While the television series followed the couple and their two young children, Arthur and Dorothy, as the family moved into the French castle, Strawbridge also has two older children from a previous marriage.

James, 40 and Charlotte, 38, are Strawbridge's son and daughter from his marriage to British engineer Brigit, which ended in 2010.

In the latest podcast instalment, the couple talked about a huge event they threw at the chateau five years ago to celebrate Adoree's parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

At one point, Strawbridge pointed out how his two sons helped him out with it, to which Adoree remarked: "I've got to say it was proper melt-your-heart moments watching the three of you work together."

She continued: "You work really, really well together, and Arthur has always looked up to his big brother, James.

"And I remember I came in and Arthur's just sitting on the stool and James is just really, really engaged and listening to all of Arthur's ideas.

"Because your first answer to everything in life is 'no,' that's what you do, and James, he's 'yes, let's put as many ingredients in everything as possible.'

"And you're there going, 'Right guys we've got to do these for 120 people let's maybe not add that final ingredient'."

"I had my two sons sorting how they#'d make the black garlic mayonnaise to go with and each dish had a dot of mayonnaise but without that, they wouldn't have been happy," Strawbridge reflected.

James once opened up about who would be inheriting the chateau of his siblings, and he seemed to suggest his half-brother and sister would be the ones for the job.

Speaking to Express in 2022, he stated: "When you go to the chateau the work being done with the renovation is quite quick compared to when you look at a house with a 500-year history.

"It's definitely more intense at the chateau than at these houses I visit [for my new series].

Arthur and Dorothy's great-grandchildren in many years' time and like one of the next generations will probably have a bit more of a chilled-out vibe."

It seems based on his comments it will be the younger Strawbridge children who will be taking over the unique home.
