The I'm A Celeb runner-up won't be seeing all of her reported £1.5million fee

Coleen Rooney's widely believed record-breaking appearance fee for starring in this year's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! isn't quite as substantial as it seems.

According to reports, Rooney, who finished in second place in Sunday's finale to King of the Jungle, Danny Jones, has been forced to give up almost half the sum - although it isn't to the UK tax man.

Rooney has since returned back to the UK following her successful stint on the ITV show along with her fellow campmates - including Maura Higgins who's already reunited with rumoured flame Pete Wicks.

In fact, Rooney was thrust back to reality on Thursday morning when she shared a candid selfie on Instagram of her taking part in the "school run" with her young boys.

She's also returned home to - what's been billed as - a "mega-bucks" deal - with wellness brand Applied Nutrition with whom she'll be launching her own range of products with in the UK.

Some PR experts have even tipped Rooney to rake in millions through other brand deals now she's returned to Britain and rumours of a Rooney family reality series have already begun.

But before being able to enjoy her I'm A Celeb cash in the UK, Rooney reportedly had to part with almost half of the sum to the Australian tax authorities.

According to the Daily Star, tax experts at Blick Rothenberg have claimed celebs face a 45 percent tax levy on their fees for appearing on the show.

This was backed up by former newsreader Michael Buerk who became the then-highest-paid campmate when he took part in the 2014 series.

Buerk was reportedly handed £150,000 for his jungle appearance but he told the aforementioned publication: "I was offered I'm A Celebrity a few times and I didn't want to do it. But when the money they were offering got really high, I decided to do it.

"But they neglect to point out that the Australian taxman takes nearly 50 percent of it straight off the top, which takes some of the cream off."

Blick Rothenberg director Robert Salter delved into the process facing the celebs, saying: "When the show was in Wales, HMRC was able to receive all the tax and National Insurance Contributions (NICs) which were due on the stars' appearance fees.

"This meant that with the highest earning stars, HMRC could actually receive up to 47 percent of their fee income (45 percent income tax and two percent NICs).

"However, with the show being filmed in Australia, the initial taxing rights on the appearance money sits there, where the highest earners from the show will be liable to a marginal tax rate of 45 percent on their appearance fees."

While she may not have been able to get her hands on the full £1.5 million she was reportedly offered, experts are predicting much more lucrative prospects lie ahead for the 38-year-old.

PR expert and Head of Talent at Press Box PR Lynn Carratt told GB News on behalf of SpinGenie: “Coleen is on the brink of becoming the primary earner in her relationship with Wayne for the first time in her career.

"Her down-to-earth personality has won her a new army of fans. She made everyone laugh with her Butlins holiday story and the holiday chain are already offering customers a discounted deal if you use her name to book and there is a call for her to become the new face of the company, which could land her a multi-million-pound deal.

"Brands will be lining up to work with her when she leaves the jungle, I can see her working with brands like Tesco or Aldi and having a fashion range with someone like Very.

"She has also become the Ambassador for Applied Nutrition, a collagen supplement. There is even speculation about her hosting a podcast or her own TV show and campmate Alan [Halsall] is keen to get her on Coronation Street.

"The sky's the limit and she could easily earn up to £10m next year, as she has more time to focus on her career."
