Jeremy Clarkson revealed the news that Gerald Cooper had been diagnosed with prostate cancer during season three's opening episode

Clarkson's Farm fans were left thrilled as they received an update on "Head of Security" Gerald Cooper through Jeremy Clarkson's latest business venture, Hawkstone Beer.

Back in May, Clarkson revealed that his co-star had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, despite Cooper not appearing in the first episode of the latest season.

As the first episode drew to a close, Clarkson took a phone call in his tractor, and whilst conversation details were minimal, he hung up the phone and told the camera: "Gerald's got cancer. Oh, s**t."

Cooper's diagnosis occurred in the late autumn of 2022 when season three had begun filming, with Clarkson further explaining at the beginning of episode two: "Gerald had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

"It's something that Kaleb (Cooper) and I discussed while trying to do what our absent friend normally does. I've been phoning around, doctors and things I know, and his odds are really good. But it's scaring him to death."

Kaleb Cooper responded: "He doesn't understand," leaving Clarkson to continue: "No, I know he doesn't understand and he's bewildered because, for obvious reasons, somebody said, 'Look, it's cancer', and that's all he heard. He's desperately upset (and) terrified. Poor man."

Cooper signed off: "He's a strong man. He's worked the land all his life, he's not unfit, is he? He could do a day's work at 74."

Since then, fans have been keen to receive updates on how the Chadlington native has been doing, with the Hawkstone Beer official Instagram account recently sharing some news.

Posting an image of Cooper holding a label which says Back British Farming. Drink Hawkstone, the caption read: "He’s got his.. have you got yours? Support British farming and farmers and win beer, cider and vodka when you put your bumper sticker on your pickup, tractor, or car… #backbritishfarmingdrinkhawkstone."

"Hope Gerald is doing well?" one concerned fan commented on the photo, leaving the Hawkstone account to reply: "The g dog is doing super well and very healthy."

Wanting to see more of Cooper, one fan asked: "Please do a video/advert with the G-Dogg!"

Later in the series, Cooper returned to the farm and revealed he had been through an operation to combat the disease and sat through 37 sessions of radiotherapy.

He thankfully was given the all-clear from the doctor, leaving Clarkson, farm manager Cooper and Lisa Hogan elated, with the former Top Gear presenter exclaiming: "The G-Dog... beat the big C! Thank you, everybody, for helping make this the best job in the world."

A tearful Cooper turned to the crew behind the camera and said: "I would like to thank everybody, all of the film crew and all my friends here... All of you have been so kind to me and my family. So thank you very much."

As everyone raised a glass to him, Hogan commented: "Gerald, we're here for you all the time."
