Carol Vorderman has made no secret of her delight in seeing Labour bag a landslide majority win following Thursday's General Election.

An outspoken critic of the Conservatives throughout the election campaign, Vorderman used her social media platforms as well as appearances on Channel 4 and LBC on the night to gloat about the Tories' dismal performance.

Labour romped home on the evening after securing a huge 411 seats - 210 more than they bagged in 2019.

Meanwhile, the Conservatives lost a gargantuan 249 seats compared to 2019, slumping to just 119 following the election.

Elsewhere, the Lib Dems bagged 71 seats, the SNP slumped to just nine, the Green Party and Reform UK earned four apiece, while Sinn Fein and the DUP were awarded seven and five, respectively.

After seeing a Labour majority predicted in the evening's exit poll, Vorderman's celebrations began.

She said to Channel 4 presenters Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Emily Maitlis: "I think we should get the party started! I mean, everyone is looking very glum in these parts!

"It's a Labour landslide. 14 years of corruption and lies and gaslighting."

Vorderman was joined in the Channel 4 studio by former Tory MP Nadine Dorries while the likes of Nadhim Zahawi and Kwasi Kwarteng were also waiting in the wings.

Taking aim at them all, Vorderman's rant went on: "You've got two ex (and) disgraced Tory chancellors in this studio, you've got Nadine Dorries - a woman who barely turned up for her last year as an MP, and everybody out there is thinking, 'No more of this!'

Sir Keir Starmer

"No more of the lies, of the deceit of the corruption of the VIP PPE lane scandal, the betting scandal!

"Who could ever have thought that a government would be as utterly, utterly banal and ridiculous as this one so let's get the party started because they have gone!"

Vorderman didn't let up on social media in the hours after the result either, penning on X: "Johnny Mercer gone. Jacob Rees Mogg gone. Gillian Keegan gone. Tories we don’t have to endure anymore.

"Here’s to a new chapter. You are all AMAZING. Thank you for every single like, retweet, comment. Stronger together."

Her sentiment was echoed by other left-leaning celebs who used their platforms to celebrate Sir Keir Starmer becoming PM.

Former footballer-turned-bit-part Dragons' Den star Gary Neville shared a mocking image of Rees-Mogg on Friday morning before focussing his attention on another former Tory MP.

"Liz Truss no longer an MP. Fully deserved for the devastating wrecking ball impact on this country!" he remarked.

Elsewhere, Lilly Allen - whose also been spouting her opinions on England's Euro 2024 performance of late - simply surmised: "Thank F***." (sic)

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson similarly celebrated with a cart-wheeling emoji.
