The remaining stars of Strictly will be donning creepy ensembles for Week Six of the competition

Strictly Come Dancing fans have spoken out in their droves to express their disappointment at the songs and dance choices ahead of Halloween Week.

The line-up - which now consists of 10 celebs following Amanda Abbington's decision to quit this week - have all been given a new routine to learn as they vie to keep their place in the competition.

However, only half of the songs given to the remaining stars come with a Halloween-inspired or sinister theme.

Fresh from surviving the dance-off against Eddie Kadi, Zara McDermott will perform a Charleston to Jeepers Creepers by Al Donahue and his Orchestra.

Elsewhere, Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington will produce a Charleston of their own to the Murder She Wrote theme while Ellie Leach is taking on the Salsa to Sophie Ellis Bextor's smash Murder on the Dancefloor.

Angela Scanlon will hope to impress with a Paso Doble to BLACK Swan SWAN Lake by District 78, and Layton Williams - who recently hit back at critics over his previous dance experience - is tackling the Tango to Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo.

Despite the spooky theme of these five routines, it hasn't been enough to satisfy a number of fans who were hoping for a more terrifying spectacular come Saturday night.

After the BBC show's official Instagram account shared the list of songs and dances, one follower hit out: "Only a couple of 'halloween' songs there. C'mon Where's the monster mash, thriller, halloween theme song etc."

The viewer wasn't alone with the comment racking up over 150 likes and another Instagram user replying: "Yeah, I agree. There’s plenty of other Halloween or horror music they could dance to! I get they want to keep it kid friendly but this is ridiculous."

"How are they Halloween songs?" a third follower queried which prompted a fourth to admit: "Right? I’m a bit bummed there aren’t any classics here."

Eddie Kadi

And a fifth was similarly bemused by the list of songs as they too questioned: "Aren’t they supposed to be spooky songs?"

There was some support for the choices, however, as one fan argued: "Finally a @sophieellisbextor song in Strictly!!! Can't wait!!!!"

And a second also backed the choices: "Omg can’t wait for Angela’s paso with Carlos to black swan!! It’s gonna be epic!!" (sic)

The other songs and dances allocated to the other five stars include Kiss's I Was Made For Lovin' You which Nigel Harman will perform a Cha Cha to.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy will dance a Viennese Waltz to Kiss From A Rose by Seal while Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe will Tango to Need U Tonight by INXS.

Adam Thomas and his partner Luba Mushtuk are preparing for an American Smooth to the sound of Perry Como's Magic Moments and Bobby Brazier completes the line-up with a Cha Cha to Come-On-A-My House by Della Reese.

One person who won't be performing on Saturday night despite not being eliminated from the contest is Abbington who announced her exit from the show this week.

In a heartfelt statement, Abbington cited "personal reasons" for not being able to continue in the competition before she paid tribute to the cast and crew of Strictly - although news of her exit was brutally trolled on Strictly's social media accounts by trans activists.

Her pro partner Giovanni Pernice broke his silence following the news with a touching statement of his own while Abbington's fiance Jonathan Goodwin was also flooded with support after he shared a poignant post in support of his other half.
