The Strictly Come Dancing and Waterloo Road star is currently soaking up the sun on holiday with his family

Adam Thomas revealed he recently had a huge parenting "wake-up call" after his son Teddy Thomas, nine, suffered a nasty fall and was rushed to hospital.

Thomas has been posting often on his Instagram account about his holiday alongside his wife Caroline Thomas, children Teddy and Elsie Thomas, brother Ryan Thomas, sister-in-law Lucy Mecklenburgh and their children Roman Thomas and Lilah Thomas.

However, the 35-year-old recently admitted that he and his wife were left terrified after having a "new fear unlocked" and their son having to get stitches near his eye.

He took to his Instagram page and posted a picture of the youngster who flashed a smile and donned a series of stitches underneath his right eyebrow.

The series of images were taken moments after the incident, prior to seeking medical attention, where despite having an opened wound, the lad managed to stay in good spirits.

Thomas captioned the post: "I didn’t think I could love this little boy anymore, but I was wrong! I see him in a completely different light now, a newfound respect and admiration for this brave lil old soul.

"He had a fall whilst we were away and ended up cutting just under his eye… it was quite a deep gash and so had to have stitches but he handled the whole experience like a champ!!

"Throughout all of it, he just kept checking on me caz and Elsie asking if we’re okay and for us not to worry! Luckily it was only a few stitches and I know things can always be worse and they are for so many people.

"So just got to count our lucky blessings, but seeing your child have to go through that last night really was a big wake-up call for me… a new fear unlocked." (sic)

Fans of Thomas and the family were quick to share their well-wishes, as one said: "Awww bless you little hero."

"Brave boy that deserves something special," another praised before a third added: "Aww bless poor Teddy, hope he gets better soon."

Someone else said: "You have a boy you are obviously super proud of but he is a reflection of his parents so be super proud of yourselves too. Glad your little solider is ok."

"But hey he's still smiling and not downhearted by it he handled it like a professional. Lots of love and speedy recovery," a fourth noted as another praised: "Awwwww bless him! Speedy recovery darling." (sic)

Before his stint on Strictly, Thomas was diagnosed with arthritis in his legs and was open about the struggles he was set to face with his legs.

Last month, he posted a video of his eldest child looking after him and putting a cold compress on his ankle as he lay on the sofa, reversing the roles of parent and child.

He captioned the post: "Today I had such a bad flare-up with my arthritis.

"I was in so much pain, and still am... but just to add to the pain I kicked a chair in a scene today at work and I can't tell you how much it hurt.

"Tried to play it cool, but wow. Good little Ted for looking after me."
