Graeme Turner appeared on the BBC show back in 2010

Former Dragons' Den contestant Graeme Turner has been found dead in woodland at the age of 53, an inquest has heard.

Mr Turner was discovered on October 1 in Pwllheli, North Wales, with Coroner Kate Robertson delivering a verdict of suicide during a hearing this week.

The businessman had appeared on the BBC programme in 2010, where he pitched his children's customisable wallpaper business to the show's investors.

His death comes after what friends described as "a long battle with illness", according to tributes posted on social media.

His funeral took place on January 16, following the tragic discovery in North Wales last autumn.

Mr Turner had sought £50,000 for a five percent stake in his company, Stadium of Dreams, which specialised in transforming children's bedrooms into replicas of their favourite football stadiums.

During his pitch, he told the Dragons his wallpaper kits were priced at £300 per bedroom, significantly lower than competitors who charged between £400-600.

Dragon Shaf Rasul questioned whether football clubs might offer similar designs themselves, but Turner insisted clubs preferred working with third parties.

Despite his enthusiastic presentation, which ended with him shouting "Football's coming home!" as he left the Den, neither Julie Meyer nor Shaf Rasul were convinced to invest.

Turner continued to run his business independently after appearing on the programme, pursuing his innovative concept without Dragons' backing.

In a heartbreaking tribute posted on Facebook, Turner's son shared his devastation at the loss of his father.

"I have just lost the best, strongest, kindest, most loyal, courageous dad I have ever had and known, he was the godfather the inspiration in my life. I am devastated and that is an understatement," he wrote alongside a photo of his father.

One friend announced: "It's with a heavy heart to announce we lost a very good friend and past member of The Supporters Club prior to Christmas."

Another described Turner as "a true gentleman" who would be "sadly missed by all."

"An absolute gentleman who will be sadly missed by all who knew him, my thoughts are with his family at this sad time, safe now in the arms of Jesus," wrote another friend.

Multiple friends paid tribute to Turner's character and impact on their lives.

"A great man and I had the privilege to be in his company on many occasions in my time," wrote one social media user.

Another friend shared memories of Turner's personality, describing him as "the life and soul of the party" and "a kind man."

"RIP Graeme, memories that will last a lifetime, thoughts are with all the family at this sad time," posted another well-wisher.

"Sorry for your loss mate such sad news he was a great man who I knew you looked upon with great respect," added another friend in the social media tributes.
