Paralympian Stef Reid reflected on her experience on the BBC show

Celebrity MasterChef is currently airing its 19th, series, with Gregg Wallace and John Torode at the helm as judges of the competition.

Former contestant and Paralympic star Stef Reid, opened up about what the show was like behind-the-scenes while speaking exclusively to GB News.

Reid, 39, took part in the 2018 series of the BBC show and delved into what the two iconic judges are really like as well as opening up on an important Channel 4 documentary.

When asked about the two no-nonsense hosts of the show, both 59, Reid replied: "They are very scary!"

However, she admitted she grew close with them as she continued: "Well, not really scary - but you just know they are really very honest. They will tell you exactly what they make of your food.

"They're both really lovely. They're both really fun. We had a lot of fun. Especially Gregg - actually, we had a really similar sense of humour in that we both really appreciate really sad and cheesy jokes!"

She added: "We get a lot of fun exchanging those. But you know, they're great at what they do, and that's why the show is so long-running, just because they're a lot of fun."

Reid also took part in ITV's Dancing On Ice in 2022, making it to the quarter-finals. When asked if she'd like to take part in BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, she told GB News: "I have a policy where I will say yes to everything once.

"I mean, the thing is, I feel so lucky to have done the shows that I've done, never in a million years did I think I'd ever be asked to do a show like that.

"But also the experience themselves, like Dancing On Ice as someone who never knew how to skate, basically being given world-class coaches and taught to skate. And if it scares me a little bit when I'm asked, then I know this definitely has to be a yes."

Reid, 39, was born in New Zealand to British parents and moved to Toronto, Canada when she was four years old. At 16, she was involved in a serious boating accident, with her life saved by a surgeon in Toronto who amputated her right leg below the knee.

She is taking part in Channel 4's Path To Paris: Paralympic Dream, which will air this weekend and look into the stories of the Paralympians competing in this year's competition.

Paralympian Stef Reid chatted to GB News about her time on BBC's Celebrity MasterChef

"It's impossible to properly convey all of the stories, all of the incredible things that you're seeing," Reid, 39, told GB News.

"And so to have a documentary like Paralympic Dreams, where you get a behind the scenes and look at what it's like being a para-athlete is so important."

On her own accident, she recalled: "So my accident was in the early 2000s and so this was well, well before the time of the Paralympics, no one even really knew what parasport was.

"So my dream initially was to be an international rugby superstar. That's what I love. That's what I wanted to do. That's what my life was going to revolve around.

"And so to be 16, I mean, for anybody to face an amputation of 16 is really tough, but especially when your identity, your hopes and dreams, are all hinged on sport.

"And that was me thinking, 'Well, you know, how am I going to play rugby if I can't run?' So it was a different space for me and I was so lucky and at the time, documentaries like this didn't exist.
