The BBC competition saw one contestant facing a hurdle in the teamwork task

The second week of Celebrity MasterChef is well underway, and Thursday's episode saw the group split into two teams in a task heavily reliant on communication.

However, this posed an issue for one comedian Eshaan Akbar, who revealed a medical disability during the challenge.

Judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode welcomed the group back to the kitchen, with Wallace explaining the task in front of them.

"Welcome back. We call this challenge The Pairs Challenge," the 59-year-old detailed. "It is all about teamwork and communication."

"We're going to split you into two teams," Torode, 59, added, continuing: "The Red team - Eshaan, Danielle [Harold]. The Blue team, Rochenda [Sandall] and Harry. [Aikines-Aryeetey].

"Each team is going to be asked to cook for us a dish, and we want two portions of that dish. Those two portions need to be identical.

"That means they've got to look the same and they've got to taste the same. The twist here is that only one person in each team will have the recipe.

"That means the only way for you to succeed is by teamwork and communication."

"It would be up to Akbar to guide former EastEnders star Harold in order to create two identical plates, and their dish was revealed as shallot tarte tatin, chicken scotch egg and coconut, ginger and green chilli chutney."

During the task though, Wallace pointed out a potential problem as he approached Akbar and commented: "You have impaired hearing..."

Quick to crack a joke, Akbar replied: "Sorry, say that again?" before the pair burst out laughing.

"High five mate, I love you, I love you!" Wallace responded before asking: "Is it difficult communicating with impaired hearing?"

"The communication bit, I'm fine. It's the listening," the comedian admitted, adding: "So if Danielle isn't facing me, we've got a problem."

During their challenge, a few issues were noted, with Torode commenting: "Eshaan hasn't even described the dishes to Danielle - he's assuming she knows what a tarte tatin looks like and tastes like."

Thankfully, the two managed to create near-identical dishes and were delighted by their success.

"I've got to say, I'm really impressed that they look quite similar!" Torode remarked. The two also received positive feedback from both judges about the taste of the dish, so it seems Akbar's hearing issue didn't hinder their progress too much.

Last week's heat saw a different group of famous faces feeling the pressure in the kitchen. The last show of the group saw presenter Craig Doyle, TV and radio presenter Edith Bowman and singer Ian "H" Watkins competing for a place in the quarter-final, which Doyle and Watkins managed to bag.

This sparked some complaints from fans though, with many arguing Bowman had been the better cook.
