Some questioned why the contestants weren't implementing kitchen hygiene practices as they cooked

Celebrity MasterChef's second episode of the series aired on Thursday, with one more famous face eliminated from the competition.

Three of the four remaining stars made it through to the quarter-finals, including TV presenter Craig Doyle, TV and radio presenter Edith Bowman and singer Ian "H" Watkins. Sadly for reality star Charlotte Crosby, it was time to bid farewell to the competition.

Crosby, 34, found fame as one of the original stars of Geordie Shore back in 2011. She starred in 12 series of the programme and was famously known for her on-off romance with Gaz Beadle.

Her removal from the series came as she struggled through the various tasks in the latest episode. The first challenge saw judges Gregg Wallace, 59, and John Torode, 59, pair the stars up to test their ability to work as a team and how well they communicate with one another.

Explaining the premise to the stars, Torode said: "Charlotte and Edith, you are the blue team. H, Craig, you're the red team. So each team today is going to be tasked with cooking for Gregg and I.

"A dish which is actually a little bit of pastry work and each team will have to produce two portions of that dish.

"They have to look the same and they have to taste the same. The twist here is that only one member of each team will have the recipe. You're going to have to communicate with each other, otherwise you're not going to get the task done."

The toughest challenge of the episode saw the stars take on the high-pressured task of working in a real restaurant in the fast-paced kitchens. While Crosby struggled once again, eagle-eyed fans were distracted by the lack of hygiene measures taken by the celebrities.

Taking to X, some quizzed the show over Crosby's nail extensions and the lack of hats or hair nets being worn.

One wrote: "How is Charlotte allowed to cook wearing nail extensions? #celebritymasterchef."

"How come these food peppers aren’t wearing hair nets and/or hats? I have to in my kitchen #celebritymasterchef," a second pointed out.

Older posts about the programme echoed these views, with previous tweets written during past series reading: "NOT A HAIRNET ANYWHERE, SERIOUS HEALTH AND SAFETY BREACH #MasterChef."

Someone else added: "#MasterChef does nobody wear a hairnet these days?"

Complaining about Crosby, another viewer shared: "Absolute cringe with Charlotte in that kitchen #celebritymasterchef."

Others defended the reality star though, with some sad to see the back of her at the end of the episode. One wrote: "Sad see Charlotte go she did so well #celebritymasterchef."

Following Tuesday's first episode of the series, many had slammed the show's line-up. The first group of celebrities failed to impress viewers who complained the contestants were all "Z list".

Some begged for show bosses to find "real celebrities" as viewers took to social media to air their disappointment over the first five contestants.

Following the stress-packed challenges, the judges announced their decision to remove Crosby from the show.

"We have got three quarter-final places - we simply can't take all of you through. One of you is leaving the competition. The contestant leaving the competition is Charlotte."

"Don't worry, I'm OK guys," a disappointed-looking Crosby declared before Wallace commented: "Sorry to see you go".

Speaking to cameras later, Crosby commented: "This experience has definitely been one I'll remember until the day I die.

"I've met some really good people and I've learnt some new skills. So you can't really be sad or angry about that, can you?"
