Antique specialist Theo Burrell was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer aged 35

Theo Burrell has heaped praise on a black cab driver who went above and beyond during a recent journey in East Lothian, Scotland.

The antiques specialist, who's regularly appear on the BBC's Antiques Roadshow over the years, decided to share the gesture publicly having been touched by the encounter.

Burrell has been living with incurable brain cancer for two years after she sought doctors' advice following a bout of car sickness and migraines.

Doctors told Burrell that she had a glioblastoma and that without treatment she'd only have three months to live.

Two years on and following rounds of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, Burrell hasn't let the disease stop her from doing the job she loves or raising money for those affected by the illness.

And earlier this week, she shared her story with a cabbie who left the 37-year-old overwhelmed with his display of generosity.

Burrell explained in an Instagram post as she penned: "Last night I got in a taxi to head home after my trip to London, and I got chatting to the taxi driver.

"He told me all about his amazing dad who battled cancer for 11 years, outliving his prognosis for years on end, and I shared my story.

"As we headed towards East Lothian, we spotted another bus with my face on the back, much to the driver's hilarity! When I got out, the driver handed me this £20 note to add to my fundraising efforts."

Burrell included a photo of the note in her hand before she signed off: "John - if you stumble across this - you're one of life's top, top guys!

"Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness, your family must be extremely grateful to have you as part of their gang, and I'm very glad I got in your black cab!"

Burrell then concluded the post with a series of hashtags which included the phrases "local hero" and kindness of strangers".

Before long, several of Burrell's followers took to the comments of the post to also applaud cab driver John for his act of kindness.

"Love this! Top lad John," one fan penned while a second echoed: "How lovely!"
