The Escape to the Chateau star thankfully managed to escape with just "bashed elbows"

Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree were both left in a state of "shock" following a recent mishap at their French chateau.

Speaking on the latest episode of their latest podcast, Dick & Angel's Chat...Eau, the pair delved into the complexities of buying wood in France in order to repair their chateau - and its surrounding bridges.

The pair often candidly open up about their lives on the podcast since their time on Channel 4's Escape to the Chateau came to an end in 2022.

From "painful" returns to the UK to the possibility of selling their French home, the duo aren't afraid of delivering candid accounts of daily life in the chateau.

But the latest incident may be one Adoree will want to forget, as she began to explain on their latest podcast: "We can talk a little bit about wood now because, as you know, essentially - can I actually say? I think it relates a bit to what happened to the bridge though.

"Shall I say what happened? I was walking across the bridge which covers the moat. And the bridge gave way," Adoree began, able to laugh about the incident now.

"Gravity sucked, that's what it did," Strawbridge chipped in before asking: "You didn't get wet?"

"No, I didn't get wet," Adoree replied. "And to be honest, the worst thing that could've happened is I fell in the moat and the moat in that area is not very deep.

"But it was the shock!" she continued. "And luckily, I had my phone in my pocket so that didn't fall out.

"As the planks below me fell out under my feet, I grabbed onto the sides, bashed my elbows a little bit, had some leggings on because I'd been doing some sport and I ripped them because they scraped on the side.

"I was just like, 'S**t!'" Adoree recalled before delving into how she tried to escape the chaos.

She said: "So I put my right foot or whatever foot forward next and then that fell away from me and as I was going along - I'm making this sound really dramatic but actually my heart -"

"I'll tell you the real story in a minute when Angela's finished her story," Strawbridge cheekily chipped in while his wife continued: "My heart was absolutely beating and I got off the bridge from the top."

Strawbridge then chimed in to deliver his account of the incident, admitting he was left "in trouble" due to his reaction to Adoree's ordeal.

"Okay, my version of the story... I was walking behind Angela and by the way, the bridge isn't a bridge by the side of the moat, it's attached to the side of the building, and one of the planks that had been attached to the building itself gave way," he explained.

Turning to Adoree, he continued: "And you dropped down. Angela dropped down and the first thing I did - I'm a bad person - I laughed.

"I laughed because my wife's not very tall and then all of a sudden she's very short and I started to giggle. And Angela started making noises which meant, of course, I laughed more.

"So we got you out of there and you were traumatised and I was in trouble because I was still laughing," he added as the pair both began to chuckle. "There was no danger or anything."

Luckily, the husband and wife were able to laugh about the incident as Adoree managed to escape relatively unscathed.

Strawbridge then delved into the fact it appeared to be the fault of a faulty piece of wood that was only "five or six years old" as it shouldn't have given way so soon after being installed.
