Amanda Owen becomes emotional as Anty Johns renovations hit major milestone: ‘It’s happening’

Our Farm Next Door star Amanda Owen reflected on the renovations of their new home in Anty John’s coming to an end.
The More4 series has seen Owen, 50, and ex-husband Clive, 69, reunite to restore a derelict farmhouse which is down the road from their current home at Ravenseat farm.
Over the course of five episodes of the new series, Owen and her family have been on a journey as they battled through treacherous weather and the challenges of their animals.
However, after 10 months the structural renovations are coming to an end which left Owen emotional as she reflected on the challenges.
In a recent episode, she said: “It’s come a long way, but it’s got a long way to go as well. All the focus has really been on the structure.
“Once we start on the interior, then it becomes a different kind of thing, which basically involves electric, plumbers, and heating engineers. So, decisions. I keep getting asked questions.”

After the lights were finally turned on in Anty John’s, Owen added: “So to be able to look up here and be able to see a light on, that’s quite special.
“That says to everyone, ‘Yep. They’re getting on.’ It’s happening. It’s real.”
During the latest episode, Owen also touched on how she felt about her children growing up and not being as invested in the farm.
Owen wanted to mark the milestone of Anty John's becoming their home with a family photo - something which takes a lot of work to get organised.

“I wanted to get all the family together, to get a photograph standing on the hillside with Anty John’s there in the background,” the mother of nine explained.
“Six girls, three boys. All looking roughly tidy and ready for a photoshoot. And we’ve even got a little bit of decent weather. It’s great to have the whole gang back.”
She described the photo as a “record of that moment in time” that the family “can look back on".
Discussing the feeling, Owen explained: “We’ll see the kids growing up and going their own way and we’ll also see the house evolving as well.
“All of a sudden, (they) want to head towards civilisation.
“They want to head to places where the phone works and where you can order a Deliveroo. Y’know, living the high life.

“You realise that it’s actually quite fun riding horses, slobbing about in wellies and they all come back again.
“You can have the best of both worlds. And I think that’s great!”
