Adam Thomas has made an emotional plea to "take my pain away" as he continues to battle with rheumatoid arthritis after sharing his struggles in a heartbreaking Instagram post yesterday.

Thomas was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease in 2023 just before his stint in Strictly Come Dancing and has been open about his health journey since then.

The former contestant revealed he has been in constant pain for over two years - with his latest update showing the toll the condition is taking on both his physical and mental wellbeing.

In his raw Instagram story, Thomas shared a black and white image of himself undergoing LED treatment - a new procedure he has been trying.

The caption read: "This disease really does f**k with your head, especially when you're trying to shift some weight and get into a routine of exercise!

"Constant battle constant setbacks! Just take my pain away, please! I've suffered enough now! Am really trying to hold myself together but it's not easy!

The post concluded with a message of solidarity: "Just one of those days... keep fighting people... on the days where we can't train... we have to take care of ourselves." (sic)

Thomas has been open about his journey and recently revealed that he had tried medication but was left feeling uncertain about the long-term effects.

Posting an image of the pills, Thomas said in a lengthy post: "So a couple of weeks back I started my new medication Sulfasalazine. Whilst I was on it, it just got me thinking.

"Am I really going to be on medication for the rest of my life? !! There has to be a better way."

Rheumatoid arthritis is a long-term condition that causes joint pain, swelling and stiffness - with the NHS describing it as a chronic autoimmune with no cure currently available.

In October 2024, Thomas revealed his condition had deteriorated significantly, and heartbreakingly said: "The pain is pretty unbearable at the moment, it's as if my whole body is seizing up."

He later confessed that the situation had become overwhelming, revealing he "had a little cry" as the pain got "on top of" him.

"I couldn't even get dressed this morning on my own, couldn't drive to work," before describing his symptoms in detail, saying his "wrists and fingers feel like they're broken".

Despite his struggles, Thomas remains committed to raising awareness about rheumatoid arthritis.

"I'm not saying this for a sob story or for sympathy. Just trying to bring awareness to this disease."

Thomas previously competed in the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing, where he found brief respite from his symptoms and recalled: "The only time I can think of, that I've not been pain free, is when I was doing Strictly."
